I would say with GC everyone that kills a deer or turkey has the opportunity to report it, and now the responsibility if you believe in doing what has been instructed to you to do. With the Survey, if I killed my 3 bucks and XXXXX # number of doe, if I did not receive a survey I was not asked nor did I have any way of reporting it even if I wanted to. Well, I guess I could have called Montgomery and asked for a survey to be sent to me, so I guess I can't so no way to report it. But regardless, with GC every hunter in Alabama has the ability to report it. So just in that alone it's better than the survey. And for those saying it's too hard, blah, blah, blah. If you (that meaning in general) are reading this post you can access GC and record it. It's either they are too lazy or simply want to break the rules. If you had called Montgomery and asked for a survey, and they sent you one, that would have destroyed the validity of the survey. In order to provide numbers that are actually within the standard error, the survey had to be random. If they allowed folks to volunteer, it wouldn't be random and the info truly would be worthless. Why does the opportunity to report your harvest make GC "better" than the survey? It may make you feel better, but it hasn't provided better data. Maybe someday it will, but not so far. Ok, you had convinced me that you weren't Chuck, but now I am wondering again. This sounds exactly like something he would say. I agree with IKB about human nature. People will obey the law for 2 reasons. One is if they are convinced it is in their best interest to do so. The other is if they fear getting caught breaking it and penalized in some way. These are the only 2 - everything falls into one of these categories. The dcnr fell far short in convincing hunters that GC was in their best interest, and they don't have enough staff to enforce it. Ole Teddy said to speak softly and carry a big stick. Chuck speaks loudly and carries a twig. the survey as is , like the last one a filled out needs to redone and question added . i think it would help if people asked to do it ever year and do it withno name attached to the survey . two i've done didn't ask enough question ..

Ole Teddy said to speak softly and carry a big stick. Chuck speaks loudly and carries a twig. I’m not Chuck. My name is Howard O’Neal. I live in Helena. I don’t know how much more clear I can make that. I apologize, I meant it as a joke. I knew some had accused you of being Chuck before; guess you were tired of it and I don't blame you. But knowing who you are certainly helps us understand your perspective better. I'm sure that co-owning a TV show with Chuck has given you lots of insight into what he thinks, and it seems likely that you would often agree with him on deer management. You guys do a good job with the show, and I have enjoyed the episodes I've watched. Please tell him to join in and talk to us here. I would love to see him do something like they do in TN on tndeer. For those that don't know, here is a link to the program: http://themanagementadvantage.com/home/team/P.S. - Does Chuck honestly believe that random sampling does not work, or was he just trying to get hunters to be more accepting of GC?

I been telling y'all that this forum gets attention from DCNR. Even if they don't have the courage to respond, you can bet they're trolling. Then again, if I were so arrogant and indignant, to compare landowners to welfare recipients, I might not have the guts to get on here either.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.
