For the folks who want to issue tags up front ( 1-3 buck tags, a doe tag and 5 turkey tags) how does the DCNR know how many were actually used? They "claim" they want data. You'd still have to" check your kill in " in some manner, correct? How's that gonna work any better than what we have now?
I just skimmed through the thread, perhaps this is explained and I missed it.
KS is often held up as the ultimate in a progressive state. I don't know how they do deer, but they have no reporting requirement for turkey. You have to tag him, but that's all. I don't know how they estimate the harvest; I presume they do a survey like we used to do. Their system is still a big pain. You can transport him with beard and spurs still attached, or you can make 2 pictures and send them in and get a transport permit. It's all just to make sure nobody shoots a hen, which seldom happens anyway.
My point is that even states like KS require tags and then get no useful information from them. It's just an enforcement provision.
