We had a lot more deer and better hunting before they started the buck limit and any sort of mandatory reporting. And the hunter survey gave a lot better harvest numbers than GC. Hunter satisfaction was miles better higher in 1998 than it is 20 years later.
I think many deer hunters would sell their souls for just the hope of killing a deer with bigger antlers. Was it really worth it?
