I'll be honest about my deer kill I will not be honest about my turkey kill That's just a fact. I'm very secretive about my turkey hunting. Nothing will ever happen to change that.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

Tags, one at a time. Kill a deer, then you have to get another tag before you can kill another deer. But I guess that would work as good as what we have now cause honest people will do it and dishonest people will not.

[ ] Make folks scared to move a dead animal like the Midwest does with steep fines. [/quote]
^^ that is the WORST possible suggestion.
That is exactly why sane rational Alabama hunters have always resisted the hyper regulated tagging system. It destroys the joy of hunting. Everything is good and happy.......until you kill a deer.....then the hunter is too scared to go near it or touch it out of fear of being ticketed. That is the bsification of hunting.
Troy's idea I like. Simple. Not intimidating. Not overly intrusive. Not a joy killer.

Another thing: I absolutely HATE the current rule about filling out the Harvest Record before moving the dead deer.
That rule is total bs and goes against common sense and common human behavior. We have unintentionally violated that rule countless times. Because when a deer is shot, killed, etc, the only thing the hunter and his comrades are thinking is recover the deer as quickly and quietly as possible. And get it to the front of your hunting property where you can then deal with field dressing the deer and loading it onto a truck for transport. THAT is when I think about filling out the Harvest Record --- before I drive off the property.
The LAST thing I think about during dead deer recovery and transport to the front of property is finding an ink pen and filling out the report.
The rule should be changed to hunter must fill out report before leaving property where the deer was killed.

Alabama’s wildlife folks should look a few states over. SC has physical tags as well as a call I system, and they enforce their system through the processors. Processors are responsible for ensuring deer are tagged and properly recorded. Processor tries to skirt the law, they get popped with a hefty fine. Hunter gets caught with an untagged deer, they get whacked with a hefty fine. Additional tags can be bought and honestly they waste a lot of paper with the amount of doe tags they give every hunter who buys a license.
Folks that don’t want to follow bag limits or take deer illegally will find a way, but I like how SC’s system makes it tougher to skirt the system.

just like the Feds do on migratory birds. Fill out a quick survey when you get a new HIP sticker. I wouldn't worry about lifetime license holders, youts , and landowners as they ought to be able to figure that out. We, the GWs, offered this plan many years ago and it went in the circular file as too expensive. WTF????? 👆this👆 Screw tags. I figure that at some point aldcnr will regulate me to the point that I quit hunting or join the rule breakers. Reducing the buck limit or tags is the line in the sand for me.

The rule should be changed to hunter must fill out report before leaving property where the deer was killed. Negative. That rule is the prevailing authority across the country. You go to any other state and you'll find the same requirements. I like it.

This is one good thing about GameCheck: when you log in it will retain your required info even if you don't have cell service in that spot and then log it into the system when you acquire service. So if you have GC on your phone and take the 3-4 minutes after finding the dead deer to do it, you're done. Isn't that right? Also, if you have the app and use it to record your info then you don't also have to fill out the paper record.

People should not have to be paranoid about touching the deer, moving the deer, dragging the deer, etc.

Why not issue a buck and doe tag with purchase of license and your 5 turkey tags. Make folks scared to move a dead animal like the Midwest does with steep fines. Make doe tags $20 a piece for additional ones and buck tags $50 up to 3 total. That raises money to hire more wardens to enforce trespassing, poaching, over limit laws. This right here.

The rule should be changed to hunter must fill out report before leaving property where the deer was killed. I agree. When I kill a good buck, I'm going to get the person I'm hunting with or someone else and get multiple pics in the field with that buck with no tags on it anywhere. And that goes the same when I'm in Kentucky, Illinois or Missouri regardless of the law. I don't want the tag in the picture at all. You shouldn't have to worry about tagging, writing, or apping a deer in electronically until you're ready to load it up and leave.

Buy you license you get 3 buck tags 3 doe tags extra doe tags are $20 each if you want to buy them. Animal in possession without tag filled out and attached = 30 days in jail and$5000.00 fine no exceptions. All tags returned (used or unused) to the state by March 15.

There is always systems that can be beat. Some easier than others. I',ll just say GC is probably the easiest of all I've seen. First and foremost of a successful program has to be simple. 2nd, the hunters have to buy into the program and support it. Know the goals of the program and believe it can be achieved. Those 2 are a must successful program.
All this is irrelevant. GC is here to stay. Changing the program now would damage too many ego's. Might be a few tweeks here and there but it is what we have.
