Mines has a key compartment hidden behind the key pad just for this reason. Did yours come with a key, if so remove the key pad and you can unlock it.
A safe which be opened with a key only is a worthless POS.
I have one . It can be opened with the KEYPAD..OR HIDDEN behind the key pad is a keyhole for a key which is hidden as well at a different location then my house. You have to REMOVE the keypad to find it...most folks arent going to even think of that.
It allows for a BACK UP plan when this very thing happens. And an OLD SCHOOL solution to a modern electronic problem..( as so CLEARLY ILLUSTRATED HERE)
And we keep our key to the safe in an entirely different house, in an entirely different county.
So the bad part of having 2 ways to open it are....???
Id bet $1000 the OP wishes he had this very set up now. A quick drive and back...pop off key pad..insert key...safe opened. No SAWING or ruining a safe and possibly the firearms in it.
Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance is what I was always told.
A back up key is a GREAT thing to me. Just my opinion though.
I LOOKED for a safe with both by the way. NO WAY I was going to trust all my guns in a solely electronic safe.
I was afraid of this very thing...and had heard of it occurring a multitude of times...as illustrated in the very thread. It is all over the internet when I looked to buy a safe so I sought out one with BOTH options. Common sense to me.
do you think theyd have 2-3 minutes to drill the lock out if the even found it? My alarm system would be sounding, and My neighbors would be coming and would be checking it out with their guns drawn, and adt would have the police on the way? I kind of dont think theyd be breaking out any tools..
