Well Dave lives in Ga, Chubbs is in Alabama. They have to be in the TNF somewhere in east Alabama.

Day 16 hurt my feelings, and I wasn't even there. Few things worse in the turkey woods than the feeling of having one come running up and sitting himself on the proverbial tee and then not getting to kill him. That hunt was a PRIME example of why hunting, and specifically picking a spot to setup, mountain turkeys can be so frustrating. No matter if you do everything exactly right, he always has a way to beat you over the head with the terrain features all around you. My heart sank (caught myself mumbling "kill him, kill him, kill him!") when that turkey came running up in there, craned that neck, yanked that head back a little to get a better look, and the gun still hadn't gone off. There was zero doubt he had smelled a rat when he didn't see a hen in those wide open woods and that it was game over. That sucked.

Oh man. That was gut wrenching. I reviewed the tape and the bird stopped just short of where Dave had made all those scratchings and put on his little hen show before he set up. Like Jughead said, I just knew we were about to watch him fold him up when he ran that neck up. Maybe a redemption video is next!

That was a tough one for sure. I think we all would have maybe set up the same way, or thoughts of maybe a little closer to that lip. But like Dave said, if you did set up closer to the lip all he would do is skirt to the left or right and get behind you and then it's over. Sometimes you do everything right and they just win. I bet that was an old turkey. If he wasn't he sure acted like one. A love sick 2 year old would have come over that hill like something was chasing him and you would have had to shoot in self defense.

That’s definitely sucks when they get that close and no shot, like said before you can’t win em all but I bet they get some redemption

That last video was how bout 80% of my turkey season went last year I felt the pain.

That does hurt there. Hurts even worse when you only get to hunt a day or two a week.....maybe

Couple of times last year I set up too close to a bird and ended up being handcuffed. Picking a spot you believe you can kill a bird is definitely an inexact science and sometimes there's not really a "better choice".

Pretty much what I’ve started doing last 10 years. Lots of fellow hunters I know doing the same.

😂😂😂 I swear it wasn’t me. Like most of us I apply the Golden rule to turkey hunting. I would never even approach another hunter who was working a bird much less tell them I was going to loop around them. That’s so disrespectful.

Wasn’t me, I was in south Alabama that day.

No doubt! I have all the respect in the world for y’all that hunt public ground because of what y’all have to put up with and that’s exactly why I only hunt it if our turkeys disappear because my temper wouldn’t work well in those situations!
