I'm gonna check these videos out. For some reason I haven't gave this thread much attention. Sounds like the video's are worth watching.

Dave and Slayton Gearin look so much alike its scary! Both of them are definitely masters of their chosen field. Slayton's being a duck call instead of a turkey call!

I remember hearing him say he runs a ghost cut nearly 100% of the time. They can make em sing no doubt.

I watched 1 thur 4 last night. I have enjoyed everyone of them so far. I'm sure they will only get better. Those guy's are the real deal and know how to get it done!

One of the things that is magnified in these videos is the decisions that constantly have to be made while working a turkey. Those breaking into the sport with a background of hunting deer via stand methods usually think "I have a game plan and I'm going to execute it" (similar to "I'm going to my stand in x location and sit till dark today). For those who are new to the sport, this is probably the best thing you can learn from these videos - you've got to "strategize" and think quickly on your feet at times in order to put yourself in a place where a kill is possible. Even then, you'll frequently fail.
I got caught up last night and watched the Alabama hunts. Those boys are quality entertainment and Chubs is a really funny dude! I like when Dave said he was a “dedicated amateur”. However If anyone qualifies as a professional it’s him.

Maybe I've missed it but I've yet to see them use anything but a mouth call. I guess when you can run one like them boys do and kill birds, you don't need to carry a vest full of pots, boxes, strikers, slates, wingbones, and so on. Plus, being on the bikes, I'm sure they want to be as light as possible too.

Oh, and to you turkey masters, what did Chubbs mean on that day 12 kill when he said it looked like a "fall bird?" Was it maybe that his wing tips were not yet worn down from strutting? That's the only thing I could figure. That tip that a high roosted bird is an outcast was pretty interesting.

He was referring to the weight of the gobbler. He mentioned it was a huge gobbler. He had not lost weight like a gobbler in the Spring.
