30 minutes after the last gobble, you shift slightly to ease the numbness in your left cheek,....and you hear it.

the "gun guy" falls asleep and you have called a bird up, and are just beginnig to video the hunt. as you attempt to awaken "gun guy" to tell him the bird is just in the pines - he snaps his head up quickly enough to scare the bird off.
In hindsight - I should have just videoed the bird and shown him the video back at camp, when he was good and awake.

When you drive 1000 miles to hunt and every road on the land you're at has a truck parked in it!!!
Or the birds are all spooked from being hell hacked for 2 weeks prior to you getting there!!! Let me guess.... Kansas?

You get home after a hunt and just can't locate that favorite call or striker. Or your favorite pocket knife. Finally lost it for good last year. It had a clip on it that would hang on my vest when I stood up. I set up on this one bird last year so many times before I killed him las year that I couldn't find it with a metal detector the next day when I went back. That was about the 3rd or 4th time I had "lost" it though.

If yall weren't so hard on the turkeys me and Amanda would tell you where to go! We didn't see but one truck but that is how many turkey we saw too unfortunately. Nebraska was plumb ugly with the blood we strowed up there. Best I remember ya'll left us plenty for seed this year when we go back. Lol

To tell the truth we were ready to come home.
The fact we didn't see many birds or locate any just got us going a little faster.

had that happened in nebraska last spring. had 30 something birds feeding towards me and 4 or 5 long beards and was 100 yards away when 2 does start that crap i was waiting on them when they was the deer they went to my right and nuthing. with them about 120 yards away i shot over them to scatter them, is was about 30 minutes before sundown trying to scatter them for the following morning worked but busted the one gobbling the close to where we went in the wood and they went to parts unknown.

You know us turkey hunters, we love to share the truth. I know! I could've stayed longer but the weather was terrible and we wanted to spend a day in Fort Worth so we headed back. We did leave plenty for seed in Ne. but we filled our tags in Kansas. I could've killed one in Ne. but I already had a merriam and wanted Amanda to kill hers. The part of Kansas we were in only allowed for 1 tag each so I guess thats why it wasn't pressured as much!

Yea! Last spring we had a spike walk to within a step of our feet then turn and run directly toward the turkey we were working! Lol! Amanda was already freaked out because we had a coon dang near walk over her legs and I wouldn't let her move!

the same day i had the deer doing that in neb i had a badger come up the little draw i was sitting in and he came within 10 foot of me, first time i had ever seen one. he headed to the fields that was behind me. i bet that afternoon i saw 20 white tails and the same number mule deer. the next afternoon i had some 2 bull elk come up the same draw was growing ups then in may. one would have been a nice bull this past fall.
