The Road is without a doubt the most depressing movie I have ever seen. I generally like those "post apocalyptic" movies but this one was probably way too close to the reality of such a situation. I kept waiting for it to take a turn and for something good to happen and it just never did.

The Road was mainstream, just unpalatable to most people. Everything McCarthy writes is pretty bleak, but he’s probably the greatest living fiction writer on earth. I liked Apocalypto pretty well. My “off color” recommendation is Bone Tomahawk- Kurt Russel’s in it...along with troglodytes

Bone Tomahawk is one of the better westerns I have seen recently. We came upon that one surfing Amazon Prime and Mrs. Irish guy and I watched it. Great movie.

Mud....with Matthew McConaughey. Dont remember it being a big box office hit, but great movie.
We love that movie. It's a good movie about some young free range boys and this mysterious stranger and a girl. And some redemption. It's one of the better movies I have seen recently too. Great film with great characters and a great story line. And it don't hurt that Reece Witherspoon is hotter than a damn firecracker.

Franco has the potential to graduate into a fine director if he keeps up his craft and starts applying what he's learning. At least he ain't afraid to take on some serious material.
