"It's better to ask forgiveness than permission" No it's not. If you have authority to make the decision then permission is unnecessary. If you don't have authority then what your saying is "I'm a selfish prick and I don't care how my choices affect you, you'll just have to forgive me later because right now I'm going to do what I want."
