How did y'all feel about AL.com's best BBQ list from each county? Some places were spot on, but there were a few other counties with much better BBQ than the place they listed. The link is below if you haven't seen it yet. I'd be willing to put Saw's BBQ from Homewood and Lannie's BBQ from Selma up against several of the others. Jackson Co. Mud Creek , nope Tate's is better.
When the old generation ran and cooked at Mud Creek it was as good if not better than anything in the South , now it's just another BBQ joint. They now cook on a huge pellet smoker and the sauce is different. It's just OK now, IMO. They used to cook it old school on a big pit using hickory.

They're absolutely right about Autauga and Dallas County.
And it's appropriate that Jim's BBQ is the very first one on the list, cause it's the best I've ever had.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

I just read that this morning, and if you read the process behind it, they actually looked at online reviews for a lot of it. So in the end it's just another fluff piece put together by a bunch of liberals that write for a glorified online blog and basically they just did a bunch of research sitting at their computers in their parent's basement to come up with the article.
You can pretty much come up with the same stuff by just Googling "BarBQue" on your smart phone in whatever city or town you happen to be passing through at the time. Then read the often questionable reviews by the Hoi Polloi.

B and K of Chilton Co gets my vote over the one they picked. I drive 15 mile past that one to get to it.

Yep. I’ve never heard of Brenda’s BBQ in Montgomery. Maybe it’s because really bad things happen on the Mobile highway and it’s probably the worst part of the city. You would think location would be a factor in this list. I also would be curious to see what the health department ratings are for these restaurants. That’s the first thing I look at when I enter any eating establishment no matter where it is located.

And health scores got nothing to do with it. There used to be a little soul food joint in Camden (might still be there) where the grease was so thick it ran out the back door. I'm not sure if I ever seen the health score posted anywhere but I'm sure it wasn't to brag about. That was the very best home cooking in three counties.

Crenshaw county Bush's in Rutledge is definitely good. Don't know what else there is in Crenshaw county but they are good. Tasty ribs. It was a big improvement over the Hooks bbq place that used to occupy that same space. I just can't believe that there isn't another bbq place in the county that is better. I really like the food but am shocked it gets the top spot. The list is loading slow on my iPad so I can't get past Crenshaw county.  Ok I finally got down to Geneva and have no idea where Kelly's bbq is. That's just across the state line from me and I've never seen it. Probably bad given my Geneva county past experiences with "bbq". Do all my shopping in Geneva. Lord knows I've driven all around Geneva and Samson looking for a good bbq place and never found one. There is one place in Samson called Crews bbq and grill. Place had bbq on the name and I walked in and there was no bbq. The waitress stared at me like I was looney for asking for ribs at a restaurant with bbq on the sign. I remember ordering something because I was hungry and it was bad. This Crews was a restaurant but definitely not a bbq place. Probably put bbq on the sign to attract business but no bbq and terrible food. In fact I remember getting sick from their bad food.

They sell like pig ears, and chitlins, and that kind of stuff. All they had was a pulled pork sammich. The Smoke House in Millbrook is my fav in the montogmery area

All bbq tastes pretty much the same to me. Only difference I can tell is how moist it is

They nailed Fayette and Tuscaloosa. Only thing is the honorable mention for Tuscaloosa County should have been Robertson’s in Ralph. Dreamland hasn’t been worth a crap since Big Daddy Bishop died.

And yes the majority of dives are on the older side of town. Older and established joints. But it doesn’t mean that the freezers or coolers don’t have to be at their proper settings. Grease doesn’t bother me. I’ve done more tile repair work in greasy kitchens than most folks on here have ever been in a commercial kitchen. Plus now I inspect them for fire safety. I’ve also eaten many of times at the joint in Camden back when I hunted regularly in Pineapple and Old Texas and it was mighty fine!

They were wrong for Morgan. Big Bob Gibson is almost inedible at times. Pork potato is the only thing you can count on. Pies used to he awesome. Last time I went pie was just awful. Last time I was there.
