By the way for all you anti discretion folks, we had a place on our monthly and weekly reports for "warnings" given. A warning was to be given only for an actual violation that we officers felt didn't deserve an arrest. DISCRETION. As directed by none other that the Montgomery office of ADCNR, from the chief down the line.

I sure some of ya'll think you are more qualified to make descisions on whether or not we officers should make discretionary warnings...but contrary to your thinking....YOU AREN"T.

The only second thoughts I EVER had about writing tickets was about some early in my career that later I felt a warning would of worked as well.

I feel that a GWs job is to gain compliance with the laws/regs of the state of Alabama. By any legal means. By what works best in that particular instance. Put em in jail. Write em a ticket. Give a written warning. Give a verbal warning. By education thru talking and thru classes. Whatever works.....
