My real last name (not Tull) in Scottish means "son of a sailor," so I pretty much have to be a Buffett fan.

Not a big fan of his music but a lot of folks are. I did go to a Buffet concert about 20+ years ago at Oak Mountian. It was ok. The passion the fans showed was pretty amazing. They were really into every song and he played to his fans big-time. One concert was enough for me.

He wrote Beach House on the moon about his dad that had Alzheimer’s. If any of y’all like me have ever dealt with that horrible disease with a family member or friend you will get the lyrics.

I saw him in Mobile in the 70s. Lot of pot smoke in that auditorium that night.

Fins up !

Wife and I have seen him twice, his concerts used to be big parties.

A buddy of mine walked into a bar down in Orange Beach several years ago and Jimmy Buffet was sitting at a table. No one in the place recognized him. My buddy introduced himself and was invited to sit with him. He claims they sat there for a few hours talking and drinking. Said he is a good guy. To me, his songs are really great, or really bad.

As for the condo, that was me stating my in-laws had one, but I can’t say anymore than that about it because apparently I’m a snob, born with a silver spoon in my mouth, that has forgotten where I come from, all because I complained about folks that knows I have access to one, wanting me to arrange for them to get to stay in it for free. I guess I can make those mortgage payments for the in-laws during those times.

This song got everyone chocked up when he sang it at the concert during the BP oil spill in Gulf Shores.

My old boss back in the 80s was such a huge Buffet fan, he scheduled his summer vacations around him being in Jamaica. He would call Buck and vice versa. I like his music.

Funny piece of history. His first #1 song was his duet with Alan Jackson.

Know any good places I can stay at Orange Beach next week? I'm a little short on cash right now so I need a good deal. blush

Lol.....if it makes you feel any better, we actually just booked a place this afternoon for 3rd week in July, so I won't have to be a freeloader and hit up my internet friends for a handout!

Used to be a bar in Daphne, Alabama, on scenic 98 named Judge Roy Bean's. He had bought his parents a nice house on the bay across the street, and knew the owner. A couple times I was in there on a Saturday and he's come in, they'd lock the doors, and he'd play for about 3 hours. Good stuff, good time, I thought he was an OK guy. Just a leftist, but I know he's been a gun owner, he was on a dove hunt I was on years ago, lousy shot...

Side note, I mentioned I'd been swapping back and forth between the Margaritaville channel and No Shoes Radio (Kenney Chesney and the like) on Sirius a lot lately. Kenny Chesney's more recent stuff is a whole lot better than his older stuff. Also happens to coincide, pretty directly, with the fact that he doesn't get nearly as much "country music radio" exposure as he used to. The better your music gets, the less "country radio" will play you. Also, it's pretty obvious Kenny Chesney wants to be Jimmy Buffett when he grows up.
