I've never considered myself a huge JB fan, although I've always liked several of his songs, but sometimes you just get in a mood. Been swapping back and forth between the Margaritaville channel and No Shoes Radio channel on Sirius the last few days and dang it's got me in a beach state of mind. Which one of you people mentioned a beach condo the other day that I can bum for free???

The guy is a pure Asshole, not to mention a flaming liberal but i love his music, I have almost every song he ever recorded and some he only played in concert, one of my biggest regrets in life is that I have never been to a Buffet concert!!

I'd never heard about him being an asshole (but again, I don't really follow him). I can see him being pretty left-leaning, but then so are most of the musicians I enjoy listening to. I'd go see him if he were close and tickets were cheap. Probably a good, fun show.

Saw him at the free Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill concert in Orange Beach in 2010. He put on a great concert. $8 per beer was kinda steep though.

One of my reps was his former stage manager. He didn't have a single negative thing to say about him.

He has done an unbelievable job of capitalizing off a few pretty decent songs he wrote and performed in the 1970's and turning that image into a lifestyle brand for people who fancy themselves as wannabe beach bums. He's basically built an empire and a lifestyle brand off of a few hit songs. Amazing accomplishment for a guy from Pascagoula, MS.

Like Irish said, he's made a fortune by branding his image and selling it.

Concerts are a must! My wife couldn't stand him but she went with me to a concert. Afterwords she said "I get it now". She still doesn't love him, but likes him enough to go back to a concert.

I've been a fan since the 70's but I'm too old and cranky to go to any concert and fight the crowds. If he wanted to invite me over for a beer though....

Yeah, a few of his songs like 'A Pirate Looks at 40', 'He Went to Paris', 'Son of a Son of a Sailor' are really good, well-written songs......................but then you get stuff like 'Cheeseburger in Paradise'..... But sometimes it's just fun to have a drink, listen to dumb music and pretend you're chillin' on the beach.

I got to hang out with him one afternoon through a songwriter friend of mine. Guy was as nice as could be and fun to be around. I left there a bigger Buffett fan than I was before I met him simply because he was as nice as he was. Biggest asshole in the music industry I ever met was Vern Gosdin. I was a huge fan of his til I met him. After that I wouldn't have pissed on him to put him if he was on the side of the road on fire.

I think I knew a guy named Frank Gill that knocked him out in the Wild Zebra club during the seventies in Mobile.

I’ve been a fan ever since I got my first cassette tape of his for Christmas in 1976. It was live “ you had to be there.” Vocally he will even admit he don’t have it but songwriter he is one of the best. I listen to Radio Margaritaville everyday. I guess it’s because of my beachcomber style. Gomer some of my favorites of his are. Livingston gone to Texas Twelve volt man California promises Caribbean soul His best drinking song is Gods own drunk.
