congrats Nick, thats a fine fish. If ya want to get it mounted, Joel Stone paints the very best I ever saw.

Very Nice! I bet that was a helluva fight.

He told me he won’t do them anymore. I’ve got a 30 pounder that he mounted for me. I’ve got this fish in the freezer and if i don’t catch a 40 pounder by the end of summer I’m going to try to mount it myself and try to talk Joel into letting me pay him to teach me to paint stripers

I wasn't asking for the dang GPS coordinates of where the fish was caught. Just wondering if it was Smith Lake, or one of the lakes on the Coosa.

seems he was using a fella from Pell City/Riverside to do most of his fish mounts several years ago, did a good job. Then Joel was painting them. Damn shame he ain't doing em anymore.

I can understand being covered up in higher paying/easier work but i don’t know if he knows, his striper mounts are the best ive ever seen, even on the Internet.

I wanted to get a Rug made out of a huge Raccoon my son killed. He wouldn't touch it.
He must be getting out of the business. He was definitely good at what he did/does, but I wont
be back to Leeds.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Yeah they do! 'Huntress and I have a 27 lb and 22 lb mounted that we caught while fishing with Nick...they take up a lotta wall, I couldn't imagine one that much bigger up there!

PS:...I might know where he caught it! smile

These are the hardest fighting fish in the river, bar none. Aside from that, i catch a lot of 20lb plus stripers and release 98% of them. As hot as it is, i like to wear them out really quickly so they don’t build up a lot of lactic acid during the fight which will kill them. This one fought so hard, he was basically dead when i got him to the boat. Even on that gear, the fight lasted 5 minutes or so. I have lost quite a few on 30 lb flouro and even had them break 5/0 gamakatsu circle hooks on more than 1 occasion. They haven’t broke an 8/0 or that 50 lb flouro yet.
