Didn't care for his political views, his shows, or his New York attitude, but I hate he took this road. RIP

Didn’t know much about him at all, but this is terribly sad for that 10 year old little girl. How someone can commit such an act without thinking of how his/her sons, daughters, and families will go on after this really pisses me off.

Until you've dealt with depression or suicide in your family you can't realize how serious it is. If you or anyone you know needs help, try your best to seek it or help someone in need. I agree it is selfish but I'm going to assume you're a rational mentally healthy individual not contemplating suicide, someone with deep depression is just the opposite. They're of the perspective that their depression is inconveniencing and selfish of them to be here. The perspective of healthy vs unhealthy is a big difference. Calling them selfish is accurate yes but doesn't do anything to help in my view.

I honestly don't know much about the guy's political views or his personal life, but we have always liked his shows and he seemed like he would be a fun guy to hang out with.
I must say I don't quite understand the whole suicide thing. I have been in some pretty dark places in my life but for some reason I have always been able to look myself in the mirror and tell myself, "You need to man up!" And so far I always have.

Early 2011 I lost a close close friend to suicide. Still hurts. This guy was smart (Ph.D. in math from Harvard), liberal, atheist, but we practiced martial arts together and became very close. He was generous, kind, funny, witty, bombastic, would give you the shirt off his back. We were truly like brothers. I gave him a different perspective on things like Christianity and guns, and conservatism, and while I never converted him to Christ (I wasn't really on the right path myself then) I think he appreciated my point of view on the Lord. He became fond of firearms. Pistols, only, and bought several. So, it was doubly sad when he purchased a shotgun and killed himself with it. Of course, I wonder what happens to someone like this, who is spiritually lost as a goose, has a good heart, a brilliant mind, what happens to his soul after death? Beyond my paygrade. But I loved him like a brother I never had, and listen to his last voicemail, which I still have, a few times a year, and mourn my friend.

To y'all's point. Taking one's own life when you have so many people who depend on and love you clearly shows the victim is not in their right state of mind. I know there are exceptions like if someone wants to use this terrible act as a final punishment to those who he feels deserve to suffer but I have to think those cases are not as common.
This happened over 15 years ago but I knew a young man who was a pharmaceutical sales rep who had everything going his way. New fiancee', excelling in his job, already had been promoted and on the fast track to do great things professionally and personally. He was a strong Christian raised in a Christian family and was an avid outdoorsman too. He seemed just had it all in place on the surface. But he had some demons. He killed himself in a hotel room in Florida while on a business trip. Completely devastated everyone that knew and loved him. He had recently just started taking some new medicine (either anti depressants or anti anxiety, I can't remember which) and evidently Satan used his cunning ways and this young man believed a lie and left his family with a void that will never be filled. I still see the parents and they haven't been the same since. Mental disease is real and if not addressed, will leave devastation in it's wake.
I used to think that suicide was an automatic ticket to hell no matter if you were saved or not. I no longer believe that. I hope this Mr. Bourdain's family looks to Jesus for comfort and peace.

I hate to hear this. Enjoyed his shows but disliked his political spin he tended to put on things on his most recent shows.
I wonder if some of the medication they put people on for depression/anxiety etc plays a role in these “unexplained” suicides. It seems they sometimes have odd and unpredictable effects on the brain of people who may have problems, but not necessarily “problems” to the degree you would think could make them susceptible to a drastic step like suicide.
I’m just thankful I’ve never had to deal with these type demons

II wonder if some of the medication they put people on for depression/anxiety etc plays a role in these “unexplained” suicides. I believe so 100%. It's also a common link in dang near every mass shooting. I too, lost one of my best friends to suicide 3 years ago. He had never been one to be anything but joyful for the 20 years I knew him. Wife decides she wants a new man and got him in the dumps. He goes to the doctor and doctor prescribes him an antidepressant "just to help him through this rough patch." He was dead in less than 90 days.

Anthony Bourdain once said in an interview that if he cooked for Trump he would poison his food. saw that, trump commented on it. Donald Trump offered compassion on Friday for Anthony Bourdain's fans and family members, after the celebrity chef was found dead of a suicide. 'I think it's very sad. In fact, I want to extend to his family my heartfelt condolences,' the president told DailyMail.com amid a scrum of reporters as he left the White House for a G7 leaders' summit in Canada. 'That was very shocking,' Trump said. 'When I woke up this morning, "Anthony Bourdain is dead." And I enjoyed his show. He was quite a character, I will say.' Bourdain was less kind to Trump last year, saying he would poison his food if given the chance.

He killed his self, a pity more liberals don't do it! You've got some major mental issues that you should think about getting checked out.

Anthony Bourdain once said in an interview that if he cooked for Trump he would poison his food. That should have been a message to his family that he has some issues that needed looking into. Prayers for his family and friends.

He killed his self, a pity more liberals don't do it! In typical form, you're more concerned with bull shyt political affiliations than humanity. truly uncalled for. the man had a 10 year old daughter. sad situation, sad comment. I'm predicting his response will be something along these lines. PINKO SCUM BETTAR DED THEN RED PUSSY SJW SNOWFLAK LIBERIL MILLENIALS jus dont git it. MAGA. Exactly. And I concur. The world is better off without the disease of liberalism. I wish they'd all kill themselves.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

It's a shame how people allow their political leanings to affect their hearts.
