Being bald since 20 yo I wear a hat almost the entire time I am awake. It helps with the sun and cold. I didn't wear it at grandmas table because my grandpa didn't wear his. Times have changed, as you would not find them eating at a restaurant, so I don't know if he would have removed his then or not. I think work has something to do with it, when you come in from the fields for dinner like I did with my grandpa, the hats came off and it was time to rest a few minutes. Most jobs these days are not labor intensive and that few minutes of rest don't mean as much to most folks.

my momma would of snatched that hat(and a few hairs) off yer head at the table in under 2 nanoseconds. One did not make that mistake twice.

wearing a hat at the eating table is a sign of bad manners and poor raising.

Damn right! And Daddy taught me to hate rude behavior in a man. We didn’t have much but we damn sure had manners. Some smartass youngsters on here obviously didn’t get that at home.

I flew a few months ago and was surprised at how many people were wearing sweat pants or pajama bottoms. I were khakis and a collared shirt and boots. I wear boots in case I have to kick my way out of a crash landing in case of total engine failure. I know the odds are against surviving but it just makes me feel better.

I wear a hat everyday. T-Fri. I work a full time job Saturday Sunday and Monday I work around my place mowing, bushhogging, fixing fences ,spraying fence lines, messing with cows, keeping both my grandma's place up. So I'm usually sweaty when I eat lunch so the hat stays on. These are the places I don't wear my hat
, church, funerals, court room, Sunday dinners at my grandparents, and other formal stuff. 90% of the time there's a hat on my head.

I'm guilty as charged I'll wear a hat in Ruth Chris and any other place besides church services funerals and weddings but I'll have a firm hand shake and eye greet while I'm in there

I was not admitted into the Mons Venus in Tampa one night because I would not remove my cap.

Sometimes you just have to.

If I ran a restaurant I wouldn't allow them, either.

If grown young men can walk around with the crack of they azzes showing. I’ll by gum wear any kinda hat I want to wherever I want to. If it’s not cool with the establishment I’ll either abide by their rules or walk on. But when the owner doesn’t have a problem then everyone else can pound sand.

If you were to look at me & another fella on here that you all know on a day to day basis, you'd know we ain't members of the fashion cops. That being said Mr. Soalturks, I agree with what you're saying. It's just the in general lack of respect people now have for others & even themselves these days. I remember the last military chartered flight I was on many years ago because my dad was in the AF. We departed kadena ,Okinawa & every soul on board that United Boeing 707 was either in formal military dress or suits & ties. The ladies wore very nice dresses & kids like me were in our best. And because of the times we now live in, I guess that I should add that I don't recall seeing any Klinger's on board.
