I only have real life experience with three pit bull attacks. Two was children, totally unprovoked and unexpected. The third was my own attack, which ended with a dead dog.
I know for a fact that all three were indeed pit bulls, not mutts.
So that's what I base my opinions on.
I've seen other dogs bite, sure. My bird dog has bitten a couple of people. But there's a big difference between a bite and a deadly attack.

I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

A homosexual that has a lot of experience being a homosexual will tell you it's perfectly ok to be that way too. I would still argue that it isn't. It all boils down to what each side of the argument likes.

But you wouldn't base your opinion of not being homo on a newspaper article, right?

Exactly. I try to judge on personal experience and not hearsay. When that one got after my Lab, it wasn't a dogs being dogs type of thing by any stretch of the imagination. It was a full blown, growling, shaking, nasty ass attack, which happened in the blink of an eye. I almost felt bad cause my friend got rid of the dog shortly thereafter. He said after witnessing that, he could never fully trust the dog around his kids.

We are required by law to report all dog attacks to the county animal control officer. They investigate the attacks further and do share information with us including the breed of dog. But we do gather as much information as we can as well. As for how I can say what breed is involved? Well most of the attacks are not by some stray unknown dog. Many times it is a neighbors dog or even the family dog. Just to give you one example. The last one I had was a 10 year old girl bitten on the thigh, buttocks and arm by their own family dog. The mother said it was a pit bull and showed me a picture of it on her cell phone. I'm no expert but it sure as hell looked like a pit bull to me. Now I suppose if you want to be overly skeptical you could say that the animal control officers aren't pit breeders and neither am I so the animals involved in some of these cases could perhaps have not been 100% pure pit. But I find it a little odd that pit bulls seem to be the only breed that are defended in this manner. I never have people accuse me of not being able to identify a German Shepard or a Doberman. Or tell me not to blame some other species of dog for an attack because we didn't have DNA testing to make sure that the animals grandmother was a pure breed.

A German Shepherd and doberman are pretty easy to identify, " pitbulls" are comprised of about 6 different breeds, that ain't including dogs that are similar such as some bulldogs, mastiffs and boxers. I mean even I have trouble, distinguishing between, stapposhires, Americans staphoshire, staffosherd bull terriers, Americans pitbull terrier. Bulleies, which are comprised of standard, exotic, pocket, and xl bullies. Then you got variations due to mix breeding. Factor all that into other breeds that look similar and it's very easy to get them confused. This also isn't considering the variations from breeds changing over time. For instance the German Shepards of today has changed so much from the original breed 60 years ago that they are now referred to as German Shepard type dogs and probably the reason leo are choosing other dogs to fill there k9 spots. I don't know why animal control just doesn't pull some blood and run dna tests on the dog. That would eliminate all this guessing and finger pointing.

I dont have to wait on an attack or an experience of my own to form an opinion about the breed. You thinking i need to wait on all of that is whats laughable. I shouldn't think bad about the dog until it kills one of my kids. Yeah, very laugable.

Your getting ridiculous now. When you decide you want to go back to big boy conversation then we'll get back to it. I dont need your approval on what i base my opinion on even though if youd halfway read what i said youd understand it. I see why some people avoided this subject. Geez.

Ive already said man. Ive read and seen enough on the breed to know its a dangerous dog. The dog has earned its own reputaion. Not the media. I dont know why your goin to the extent you are with me to try to prove your point. Obviously your way more bothered by this than me. If youve had good experiences with the dog then good for you. Me personally, im not scared of any dog. I can defend myself against the dog because just like outback said im armed most all times too. So you can just cool your jets man. Your getting way to worked up about your dog. If you want to own one and let your kids play around it with your back turned then go ahead. I base 99% of my decisions on whats best for me and my family. That's it. Us owning a pit bull as a family pet in my opinion is just not a good move. I hope that satisfied your question.

And the super scared joke was funny even if we disagree. I assume your out hunting a good man according to what im reading...i don't now.

Im done man. I dont have to run anything by you to have an opinion. You must think pretty highly of yourself to think you have to put you stamp of approval on somebodys opinion. Mine nor your opinion would ever change regardless.

Typical. When asked for the basis of a person's opinion, you avoid the question and look for the exit. Seemed like I predicted this very thing a few posts ago.

Im not exiting because you asked for basis. I just refuse to deal with anyone that thinks my opinion isn't valid unless its approved by them. That's very liberal like. Think like me or you dont have point. Typical.

Im perfectly fine with agreeing to disagree but obviously your liberal mindset doesnt accept that way of thinking. Thats ok too. We have several liberals on here. Nothing wrong with that.

Yea right, I'm sure it don't have anything to do with the fact you can't answer the question.
