Public service announcement. Do not let your dogs get into them. The substitute that they use for sugar is toxic to dogs.
Sorry BrentM. I saw the title and responded immediately and then went back and just read through the thread and saw you'd already mentioned the above. My brother's GSP over in GA got into a bag and ate a couple pounds before they caught him. Killed him dead as a hammer. Died on the way to the vet. He was probably one of the top 10 bird dogs I've ever had the pleasure to hunt behind.

I’m assuming that the sweetening ingredient in these is xylitol. It causes gas in humans but it is completely toxic to dogs. I almost lost mine to it last year when she got into some sugar free gum. She usually isn’t bad to get into stuff but the emergency vet told me that stuff gives off a smell that is irresistible to dogs. I literally had to drive to Huntsville with her in my lap and keep putting honey in her mouth to keep her alive til I could get to the vet. She spent 4 days on an IV before her body could finally produce its own sugar again.
Sorry to interrupt this funny thread with something like that but I had been meaning to make a PSA post about xylitol for a while and this thread refreshed my memory. Don't leave any gorilla glue within your dog's reach either. Evidently they can't resist eating it, and it will continue to swell in their gut until they die
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

The regular ones are fine, I see them on the shelves in most convenience stores. I don't think they sell the sugar free ones, anymore.

I had no idea those were such powerful laxatives. But then I don't know any adults who eat gummy bears either. Soak them in vodka. We’ve never used the sugar free though.

We should combine this thread with the barking dogs thread.
