We have the opposite in Jackson Co. Judge Grider causes poachers,roadhunters and spotlighters pain. He just fined a roadhunter that shot a small buck $3500. Now that's one expensive scrub buck! crazy

Don't know about the rest of the state, but in the foreign country known as Sumter County, the minimum fines and jail time are whatever Judge Montgomery wants them to be. I caught a friend poaching during turkey season a few yrs back. He promised he wouldn't be back. A few weeks later he was back. He had a well deserved reputation for poaching. So I decided to prosecute. Of course, he was furious. Supposedly, he continued poaching on my lease throughout the remainder of the season. So a year goes by and we are near trial date when the game warden catches him hunting on us again. He even gets video of it. Rumor has it that he had nearly 20 prior game violation convictions. What does the judge slam him with??? $25. Seriously, $25. There were three of us splitting the cost of that $8000 lease. And he got to hunt it more than we did for $25. I dropped the lease after that.
