Shane, the man who was killed, had been having a lot of trouble with poaching on the leased property that he was hunting. The local GW had been attempting to monitor the area and had communicated with him. He even set up a camera to attempt to get pics of the poachers....but, his camera was stolen. The morning of the incident, he (along with others) saw and heard 4 locals making man-drives on the property and adjacent properties, which they were poaching on as well. He placed a call to the GW and had to leave a msg due to the GW not having signal in a rural part of the County. He sais in the msg that he had seen them and was going to attempt to see who it was. The next thing known.....he was found shot. Dogs did trail from the scene to a local residence. BUT, the timeline dictated that the perp may, or may not, have still been there.
They did have some evidence and leads in addition to the tracking.
I can only assume that they were able to use the evidence to narrow the Search to the one guy.
That is what I have been told by fairly reliable Sources.
I do know that there were several different Agencies working this, including DCNR, from different angles and they put in a LOT of hours on it! And, yes, by all reports, there was a definite Show of Force during the arrest!!!
