Most people who do this usually also leave the animal to rot right where it stood, instead of at least salvaging the hide or something from the animal. Such a waste and a sin against Nature, in my opinion, to just kill at random like that simply because an animal has the misfortune of walking out in front of you and you think it might out compete you for game. Never had much respect for people who hunt like that. It just tells me how little connected to to Nature they really are, and what kind of respect they have for it.
I never buy meat from the grocery store, ever. I only eat wild game/fish and have for years. I also haven't ever shot a predator animal simply because it walked out in front of me. The point is, you don't have to shoot every predator you see to still harvest plenty of turkeys, deer, rabbit, doves or quail.
