Yep. We need to get serious about murder in this country... swinging from a rope or firing squad. Either one will be fine.

As much as I agree with you about the rope, and would love to see us go back to public hangings on the courthouse steps, that's just a dream. Like Jawbone said in another thread, he'll do a plea deal with the DA and be back out, thugging it up, after serving 7-10 yrs of a 20 yr sentence. That's if, and a big if IMO, you can get a local jury of his peers to convict him there in Wilcox.

In the State of Alabama a person convicted of murder must serve 15 years of 85% of their sentence which ever is less, before being eligible for parole. That doesn't mean that he could not enter a plea agreement that called for him to serve a split sentence. For example he could be sentenced to 20 years split with 5 years to serve followed by 5 years probation.

Really think he will do more than 5/5 maybe 10/10 but more like 15/5. Unless he snitches on someone or something big he will do the majority of it.Even when he is eligible for parole the family HAS to PROTEST and keep him locked up. Probably not a lot of money to afford a good lawyer . If he gets convicted Alabama DOC is not in the business of letting murders go. I've seen em rot in prison. If he was to get the tenth penalty he could spend along time in prison before they ever execute him with all the appeals. It will cost the taxpayers a lot of$$$ either way. It would be a lot easier to go back to the old ways especially monetarily.

We commonly have murder charges pled down to Manslaughter in our circuit. I'm not knocking the DA on this. He has to make tough decisions and he chooses to get something rather than risk a killer walking away scot free. Like I said in the other thread, I know nothing of the evidence in this case so I don't know how strong it is. I do know that the DA, Michael Jackson is a good person and a polite note expressing your concerns that he push for the max will be heard and taken into consideration.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

He meant the death penalty just like THEY minimum Well, that makes sense. I didnt think about that or a autocorrect. He isn’t eligible for the death penalty unless he is charged with capital murder. I haven’t heard anything that would lead to a capital charge.

Just saw where they arrested the guy’s 60yr old father also. There was a group of 4-5 guys making man-drives in Posted land that Shane was hunting and a neighboring Hunting Club that they were trespassing on as well, Flatwood Hunting Club. My son saw/heard them AND Shane had seen them and called and left a message with the local GW saying he had seen/heard them as well. It is speculated that he caught/encountered/confronted one, or all, of the group, which led to him being shot and killed.
Maybe they are planning to arrest and charge the whole group? Or, at least force the others to give the one who actually pulled the trigger??
Either way, I am glad to see SOMETHING being done! The guys working the case have been working hard against some tough odds to make this case!

It's bad when you live on a completely other end of the state and Willie Powell road comes up and it rings a bell. Don't think it's a place I want to visit anytime soon.
