Well, he got a little stiff and wet before I got any pictures taken. It was a great hunt and we managed to pull it off right before a thunderstorm rolled in. Well, we were close again but the hens won. They stayed in the trees until about 830 with hens roosted tight to them. I thought once or twice I'd convinced one to break and come but in the end the hens went down the hill taking all 3 with them.

I stopped by a greenfield back behind my house this evening to check a camera and had these two decide to check me out. I leaned up against a tree in khakis and a black t-shirt and they stayed for about 5 minutes just standing there. Found some birds on my new lease yesterday, but had to leave and get to court. Went back this morning and didn’t hear a gobble.

I was really close on number 2 this morning. One of the best gobbling birds I've ever hunted. I'd decided to try a spot out on some of the NF and it almost paid off. He came straight in off the roost bit 2 hens came down the road and cut him off. He got to about 75 yards and prob within shooting distance behind me but I was pinned down. He fired back up about 35 minutes later and I had him under 100 2 more times but he just wouldn't commit. I had to leave him still gobbling at 11:15.
Georgia opens tomorrow and I have a big lease that I know has a bunch of birds but really considering going back after that one again.
