i own 4 summits for a reason. the reason is because they are great! 2 goliaths and 2 bushmasters. thinking about getting a 180 max for next season.

i misspoke earlier about tree lounger, not sure how they are the one i have and was reffering to is deer hunter tree stand, a company that was out of hickory north carolina. i like the blade in the back instead of the wire, it digs into tree with no slip and comfort you can stay in all day.

Just on more on the Summit bandwagon. Viper was my stand when I could still climb. These days I am on the ground, and actually find it fine! Gettin older is not for sissy's.

I too thought Summit was the best until I got my new Treewalker last week. From what I can tell so far I like it even better than my Summit.

I still own a tree lounger and like most agree, it's heavy, loud, and not the quietest climb, but once up most comfortable of anything I've hunted in.
I personally like Cougar Claw, made in Alabama & IMO lighter and more comfortable than the Summit, APi, or Ole Man, I have been eying the treewalker though

I had a similar thread going last week. I have found that most folks are partial to what they are familiar with. And in many cases they think it is the best because that's what they have. But unless you have compared it to the rest it's hard to say. Some will say Summit is the best if they don't have a good point of reference. I specifically worded my post last week for guys that have had experience with both the Summit and the Treewalker. I already knew what I was gonna get from the Summit guys (cause I was one), or probably the Treewalker guys if that's all they were used to. I wanted the pros and cons from unbiased point of view, someone who owns both and has no reason to choose one over the other. I was shocked at the response, it was almost unanimous that the guys who had both liked the Treewalker better, but most agreed the Summit is a good stand as well. So far I tend to like the Treewalker better as well, but haven't put enough hours in to say for sure.

I haven't used a TreeWalker. I have used a Baker, a Tree Master, an Ol Man, a Tree Lounge, a Cougar Claw and a Summit. Summit is BY FAR my favorite of any of the above.

Since the man asked about Summit, API, and a Treelounge...............reckon he wasn't caring about an another brand? I 've had Summit's and an API and a buddy had a treelounge. The summit works great, I hated the pins and packability of the API and I heard too much rattle on the treelounge.

I have summit best climbing stand I have ever climbed.The goliath is probably the best.

Summit dont stick to the tree like a tree walker nor does it pack together as well.

I haven't had any deer sightings watching a scrape line. Hunted it for 3 days.. Ugh...

Cougar Claw Stands man! you won't regret it! i have also used the summits, but they don't compare to the cougar claw. Summits have that little hinge that i have seen bend and even slide out and loose while climbing, not knocking them at all guys. they are good stands, but the cougar claw is as if not more comfy BUT has cables that have the square end and a pin WITH leveling capabilities. that is what sold me. not having to twist or make sure hinges are tight and all that. you can even climb up and see that you are too tight and pull the pin and still have the other in to be sure you are always on the tree. see the pics to explain!   They are light, comfy and i can be at a try and on it climbing in less than a minute!

There's a simple solution to that hinge problem, just drill out the rivet and throw the hinge away. I took all those hinges off my Summits. That cable ain't gonna come out until you take it out, and it makes leveling a lot easier.

That cable ain't gonna come out until you take it out, and it makes leveling a lot easier. I just squeeze the thin metal together a little. Then it's preloaded and snug. Done.
