Still no answers as to a cause. Swelling has gotten a little worse, so as a precaution they are intubating her through her nose to ensure she has a stable airway. Treating the swelling with steroids to try to get it under control.

Finally got a potential answer:
"Veno Lymphatic Malformation of the Tongue"
According to the doctor, the only potentially life threatening part of it is losing an airway, so they went ahead and did a nasal intubation and it went smoothly.
As far as treatment, it is relatively simple and straightforward - medicine for mild/moderate cases and minor surgery as a worst case. An MRI will confirm that this is the culprit, but the doctor is pretty confident that's what it is. MRI will most likely come monday, then treatment from there.

The autoimmune thing was discussed but the Rheumatologists pretty much ruled that out. They are "pretty certain" it's the Veno Lymphatic Malformation deal, and said the MRI will say for sure, just won't be able to et it until probably Monday.

Been there a couple times with mine and the last one i wasnt impressed my 5yr old had 30 stictches in forhead and they didnt put a compression bandage on it.. well 45mins after surgery it swole so bad blood was squirting outta stitches and he was screaming in pain..meanwhile i was screamin at docs

They ended up being able to intubate her normally instead of through the nose. She'll have to be intubated until the swelling goes down regardless of the MRI, because as long as there's swelling, her airway is in danger of closing. They're actively ting to manage he swelling, it's just slow going. I have no problem getting after a doctor or nurse I feel isn't getting it done (I got sideways with a few here when GomerJr was here his first time) but I on et that impression with these.

Watch that damn night shift. I've had problems a couple of times where they didn't follow the same treatment guidelines, condition threshold, etc.
Praying for all of y'all. I'm glad that it isn't hopefully an autoimmune issue.

It's absolutely amazing what a shower and a decent cup of coffee can do for one's mood after a long 24hrs.
Now that things have settled down a little I wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes. We've still got a few more days ahead of us but it seems that we at least have a pretty good idea what's going on and a plan to address it. Please continue to pray for Maddie and the doctors, as well as the Mrs and me. MrsGomer has been surprisingly calm through all of this, which has in turn really helped keep me relatively calm.
