I'm not sure how bad your situation is but I could not get a dr between Atlanta and Birmingham to touch mine. It was a repair not a replacement. I was referred to doc Baker in Columbus Ga. He was the best around 10 years ago. He has or works in a sports med center.

Dr. Bryan King in Tuscaloosa put my wife's hip back together when she broke it. He is supposed to be one of the best hip guys around. Several nurses told us that we were lucky that he was on call that night. I can't say enough good things about him and the job he did. I know a lot of people would be wary of going to an African American surgeon, but he is top notch all the way around. ,

How do you know? Is there a national championship for orthopedic surgeons?

My daughter completely crushed her hip in a car accident. From where the wreck was, they could take her to Atlanta, Birmingham, or Chattanooga. They took her to Chattanooga because they knew of Dr. Nowotarski and his reputation. They had other good hip surgeons there, but recommended that we wait for him even though he was out of town. We waited four days with her in a coma. He performed an 11 hour surgery. She laid in a hospital bed for nearly 6 months and now lives an almost normal life because of him. Our ortho surgeons that took care of her in Pensacaola, after her surgery said that they have never seen such an unbelievable job on repairing a hip. One of my long time friends works on hips and said he could have never done that job after looking at the X-rays. Also, the last time I checked, he had a five star rating which is very rare for a surgeon. So yes he is a national champion in my book! We were also told by many other doctors, rehab, physical therapist, etc... that there was none better.

2x on Mark Elkus My wife just retired from his practice after 39 1/2 years (She helped his dad open his practice and then when the dad died she managed Mark's practice ). He does a lot of joint replacements for the Andrews group as he is Fellowship trained in hips and knees. He has a small [practice ( one Doctor and the service is great).
