I do know that the local GW is on the case and working.

I also learned that he WAS working the property where Shane was killed.
He had placed a Camera trying to catch the poachers and damn if they did not steal his camera, too!!!!

I did give him some Camera tips.....

Perfect example of the state not giving them what they need to adequately do their job. Take a bait camera and put a GPS tag/celluar tracker in the battery compartment on it. Once they take it, just pull it up on your phone and go to their trailer or meth house and arrest everyone there for possession of stolen property. They've gotten pretty dang small in size and pretty dang cheap recently.

Guys, this is not rocket science. If they really got serious about catching these poachers and thieves, they could have half of west Wilcox behind bars by the middle of next week. Lack of attention, corruption, lack of political will, lack of intestinal fortitude, you name it but the issue lies with one or some combination of those four I promise you.

in all seriousness, i never intended for the game cameras to be used for surveillance of man (woman). i placed an average of three cameras per property for an idea as to what we had as far as bucks and hogs. only when i began having the illegal dumping issue (fish carcasses, trash, frozen food, condoms, beer cans, etc.) did i begin looking for the person(s) that did the deed. it was nasty and irritating to go to the hunting land in the wee hours of the morning to be grossed out by rotting catfish or having to step around condoms to unlock the gate. when i setup the wireless covert camera and began getting real-time images, i was floored at the number of people who were trespassing (i'm sure the baldwin county sheriff's department was amazed as well). then, when i caught the illegal hunters/trespassers, it really opened my eyes to stopping it - it's bad enough to be a girl/lady/woman hunting alone but then to discover that you're not really "alone" and that there is some unknown man walking your property with a gun...

the cameras have more than earned their keep and i'll continue to use them for their original intended purpose but also for the extra security they provide. i know the man who was murdered probably never thought something like that would have happened but it's too bad he didn't have some cameras out (that were secure) that would have provided some justice to his survivors. and to think that someone on here called me paranoid!

His cameras being stolen was the 1st thing that Shane reported.

I agree, though.

Should have focused on discreetly placing cameras in areas to capture images of the poachers.
It may very well have prevented this tragedy! Or, provided some valuable info to help solve the case.

Cameras better have lock boxes and be very secured to the trees.

Can y’all imagine if this would have happened in November and we had two months of hunters in the woods? Somebody would get hurt no doubt.

ABI has officially listed the crime has a homicide according to the article in the March issue of AON magazine.

Bump. I wish someone would pin this to the top. We as a group need to continue to follow this so that it is not forgotten. I can assure you that there are people in high positions that are hoping that this just quietly goes away and people forget about it. They'd much rather just tell the widow and her children that they cant find or get a conviction on the killers, than be forced to take action and do what they know needs to be done to clean up NW Wilcox.

They need to clean up madison county too, a little on the south end and a whole dang bunch on the north end. Looks like the whole country needs....i dont know.....

Exactly, the only thing they understand is brute force. Unfortunately, if it is applied properly, they will scream racism.

I hope that the authorities are able to solve the crime and apprehend the suspect(s) so that justice can be served. If not, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear about some vigilante justice down there.

I saw on the local news where one thug shot and killed his real life brother the other day. Maybe we could encourage more of that.

Been real quiet the past week.

The SBI has a LOT of info to sift through....and a couple of solid leads.
BUT, getting hard physical evidence is tough.

The weather turning hot so soon really slowed the poaching down, too.
Only pic I have had of a person lately is one of the GW. LOL
He is in the area working and I have him on speed-dial if I do get a pic of any poaching activity!!
