[quote=jawbone]Mrs. Storey's in Opelika is who you have heard about Clem. They are hard to beat, especially when followed by one of their milkshakes.

^^^ This. ^^^^

My father has been eating them since they originally opened in I think in 1956. Foot long super slaw dog paired with a walnut milkshake. Tough to beat.

Chris's in Montgomery is the most unique and best, in my opinion. They definitely have been around the longest.

It is great. One of those places that nothing is one part you can put your finger on being great, but when all together, it just is

Many times I've factored in an extra hour to stop at Chris' for two dogs all the way, a burger all the way, fries and a Coke. Been going for 30 years and was introduced to it by my wife and her grandfather, who had been going for decades.

It ain't high class by any means but at 100 years old, and going on the third generation, it's definitely a legacy. And you pretty much either love it or hate it. Not much in-between.

So which is best: the walnut or banana chocolate? Might have to get both!

I've had the burgers, but never the dogs. My cholesterol went up about 93 points just walking in the door and I believe my widow-maker quivered.

Used to go to the old one with my boss. That junk was GREASY but I liked it for some reason.

That's My Dog in Montgomery is good too. It's in the hood but if you go during the day, you'll be okay

Yep. They’ve got one with nacho cheese, jalapeños, and then he crunches a bag of Doritos up into little bits and pours over the top for some crunch

Sounds weird, but it’s good

Also, points for ballsy business strategy of setting up in view of Chris’s with his downtown cart

Same thing happened at Dot's Dairy Den in New Hope.

Was in big spring cafe last week, kindly limit my visits due to how good and greasy it is. Got the usual, two small cheeseburgers, no onions add pickle and a chili dog. They got good chili dogs.
