My son who is doing an internship at the statehouse just texted me with this news. He emailed me the amended bill if anyone wants to see it, I can send it in 5 minutes and y'all can post it. I'll be out of the office the rest of the day.

Basically a $15 "bait privilege license" paid to the state for each feeder you have. Even those exempt from needing a hunting license will need one if they want to put corn out.

Officer, that's Jim's feeder. He put out 50 but didn't pay the fee.

Funny, and here we were always told that baiting laws were for the good of the game, keep it fair chase, help keep spread of disease down. Now we see it was really just about the money that the fines brought in.

As long as the feeder is permitted, it will be OK I'm sure. Will have to actually attach permit to feeder. Think they do this in other states.

If they are going to legalize it, I hope they require this.

Makes more sense to me to have the individual paying for a license instead of paying for a per feeder sticker, but if it clarify's the feeding rule it has to be somewhat better.

It should be a personal tag not per feeder.

I like it. Enforcement would be easy. If your looking at a feeder it better have a sticker. If your in a club you would t have to worry about whether a noncornsticker club member was hunting too close.

Succinct and to the point as usual. Common sense and laws rarely collide.

Does not make since to place sticker on feeders. A lot of people don't use feeders and scatter corn on the ground. a feeding stamp attached to license would be best option. If your club uses corn and you don't it would be your choice if you want to by the stamp or not. just my .02

I think requiring the feeder to be tagged instead of licensing an individual will probably work better if the feed site is legal for everyone who hunts it and be cheaper to license a few feeders than have every club member buy a permit you could put out 4 or 5 feeders and everyone could hunt them legaly instead of one or two people putting out their feeder then if you accidentally hunt close to it or on purpose without a license you get a fine. Ill pay $30 for two licenses i can put on a couple gravity feeders and put in some secret spots. A couple weeks supply of corn costs more than that anyway.

Yea, somebody's got an inside deal with a feeder manufacturer, just like they got an inside deal with trophy rock. Somebody's pockets are getting lined.

Texas would become the most prosperous state in the Union, if they taxed feeders. We ran 8 on 640 acres.
