I believe it was 7.years ago that I had one walk in on me. It was a wet soppy morning and I was running late on the way in so did not lock the gate to our lease behind me. He followed my tire tracks over a mile and a half out to my truck and then my boot tracks another half mile. When he got to me it was about 9 AM. He had on NO orange and skeered the chit out of me when he I first saw him coming through the woods. I waved my hat at him and he came to the base of my tree and hollered up asking if I had a license and to toss it down. Asked if I was hunting over bait and then walked about an 80 yard perimeter around my stand on top of the ridge. He completed his search and then Asked if I was going to continue to hunt or walk out with him....... I decided to come on out. Nice enough guy though. Couldn't tell you which county he represented however. I was literally on the line between fayette and Tuscaloosa county.
I understand the job of the GW is to make sure all are abiding by the law but seemed like a lot of trouble to randomly check a 20 year old kid at the time. And for safety reasons I cant imagine it would be legal for him to be walking around without any orange on.



I see you’re from Shelby County. Not sure if your hunt here but we have 2 great Officers in our county.
