I don't understand why it is not good for climbing stands but is OK for ladder stands. Pull gun up by a rope and either lay it across your lap or hang it on a hook in the tree until you are ready to fire. What am i missing? A heavy gun is one I would consider that is not ideal for stalk hunting not stand hunting.
