In Autauga County. Raining ,he walks up to my shooting house
Asks me if I have any bait 3 times. I told him no. Because I
don't. Gave him my License. He said ok and left. Asked he he could

Walks in on you while you are trying to hunt. Great.

I am 57 years old. Hunted all my life. This is the first time I have ever been checked.

That's a nice way to ruin the last hunt of the year.

I know they have a job to do but!
If i take the day off from work and drive 2 hours to hunt, he ruins my time, $$$ and hunt, but if he had suspicions of baiting, by all means. The use of drones make a lot of sense for the GW, not to mention the safety factor.

Maybe that baiting bill passes and this becomes a thing of the past.

No excuse for ruining a persons hunt unless u have solid proof they are on top of corn. I get doing it if that’s the case but like previous person said my off time is limited and u ruin my hunt over some stupid bulldoodoo I’m going to let u know which I know would do no good. Otherwise just wait ur ass at my vehicle and check what u want. Hope the baiting gets passed even though I hardly hunt around places where corn is known to be like feeding station that’s marked on property the current so called law is dumb as hell. Game check is also one of the biggest jokes I’ve seen in a while. Go chase poachers instead of hard working people that do their best to follow the rules. I know they have a job to do but don’t make ur quota on the guy that might have his camo hat instead of orange on for example. Easy mistake sometimes. Rant over.

Warden checked me in Choctaw county about 18 years ago and he didn't even ask! He just walked right over to the 100 pound pile i dumped 2 days prior, and grabbed a big handful and said "yep this is illegal!" Real nice feller, wish i could remember his name, he was probably early to late 30s kinda blonde or maybe reddish color, hell i don't remember lol. I do remember him just giving me a warning for not having a hunting license, i was 17 and hadn't taken the hunter safety coarse yet. I did the follwing weekend and got my hunting license though!

Got checked one time when I was about 18 and thought I had everything figured out.

Green Jeans: "You huntin' over corn?"
Me: "Nah, but there's some over there by that oak tree...you can't miss it!!!" He took off like he won the lottery while I was laughing.

see the above red text.. how does the warden know he isn't a poacher. what if the warden got a call from someone saying the OP had bait out just to ruin the OP's last hunt of the year. i swear some of yall get your panties in a wad over little stuff... so now i guess the police when they are behind a suspected drunk driver need to wait until the driver gets home to check him for DUI instead of ruining his happy time .. "oh sorry sir i didnt mean for your family to die, but i would have ruined his good time of drinking if i stopped him before he got home"

I got checked on 2/9 as I was walking out that evening. While I was hunting I heard cars racing around a nearby curvy road for the better part of an hour. Come to find out someone was poaching on the club next to me. The wardens chased the guy by car and on foot most of the afternoon. The wardens have been trying to catch him for a while. He was not only hunting our neighboring club but was seen parked on our club a few times. Which explains drag rags hung in trees that no one in my club claimed and other suspicious activity. Any way, I thanked the wardens for their service. Their names are officers Quinn and Draper. I really enjoyed meeting them. They were genuinely concerned about poaching issues in our area.

Years ago, I got invited to hunt this property during rut and the guy who leased property told me he had corn out on food plots, just so I would know. I was scared and asked if I could hunt a creek bottom, he showed me the area where I could access creek and I hunted the creek that day. Upon exiting woods and walking to my truck, GW was parked behind my truck and informed me that I was hunting over bait. I said no Sir, I specifically asked to stay away from corn, that's why I hunted the creek. He said there was corn on every food plot on property, and if I was hunting on that property, I was hunting over bait. I didn't see how, but can't fight the law.

I created an account just to respond to this post. If one is to post in a public forum to stir up a public response, I feel it is beneficial to include all the facts before assumptions are made. For example, a bit of information which was left out of this post includes: a doe dumped at the gate on the land owner’s property which had corn spilling out of the guts. Also, the hunter’s “ area” was not disturbed as he was checked in a shooting house close to his truck and had just arrived at the stand, nor was his son checked that afternoon as I did not wish to disturb the hunt any further on the last day. I gave the benefit of the doubt and probably shouldn’t have and went ahead and checked the entire area. I always attempt to be professional and courteous. Also, I am a hunter and put people’s hunt into consideration before checking them, but the reality is, game wardens can’t always work back at the truck.
