Purple heart, osage, cherry. Had a plastic one awhile back that sounded real good but it fell outah my vest somewhere. an acrylic dowel/striker can sound real good on glass calls

Snakewood is probably the most versatile all around for all surfaces. I don't think it's the best for any surface though. If you are wanting something for glass, get a Stuckey Maccassar Ebony Spot on.....
