First time this year with the rifle. Got the Steur 280 today and have had it for years. First time I’ve hunted with it. Buddy called to go on a meat hunt and couldn’t pass it up. Anything goes this morning.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....

Just took about 200 yd shot from the back door at a big doe. I'm going to have another cup of coffee and see the girls off to school and then go check for a hit. She ran off like a clean miss but we will see.

Sitting in a tree in Mobile County hoping to see some chasing this morning. Bucks are cruising, but so far no chasing has been witnessed....

They are moving in some places. Buddy just texted me. He just killed a helluva buck in Macon county. Said it was working a scrape on other side of a sage field he was watching.

Killed a good 8. Not my biggest but most special. Killed it my land I inherited after my dads passing.

Congrats. I went out to some property in Lillian and found that some of it had been burned up by the neighbors. They were burning trash or something and it got away from em. Did see a spike roaming around out there so maybe it didn't bother em much. Plenty of running and chasing tracks since the rain.

There is just something inherently wrong with sweating while hunting the elusive South Alabama rut in February lol
