Has any link ever been made to mineral sites and EHD? Just seems the mud hole created would be prime habitat for the midge. Reason I ask is several of the dead deer I found in Illinois this past October were near mineral sites.
If I am not mistaken, mineral licks have been illegal in the state of Illinois since at least 2002
