For Troy and the other LEOs on this site. Why was there even a need to obtain a warrant? I thought that a trained K-9 in pursuit of a murder suspect was enough to provide probable cause to be able to enter the premises without a warrant. You know, just like the trained K-9 hitting on drugs in a car gives the LEO probably cause to search the vehicle.
At the very least they should have immediately separated all the occupants of the trailer and taken them into custody for questioning. Can any of you LEO's chime in on this?
vehicles have an exigent circumstances exception to the "warrant in hand" rule. They had probable cause and the house wasn't going anywhere. I'd a damn sure separated and detained those folks in there for questioning.
if they had been in direct pursuit of a suspect and he ran into the trailer then they could of entered right behind him. Hours later with a dog ain't the same.
