About five years ago weyerhaueser had some land for lease in that area that I thought about leasing. I'm glad now that I didn't because I would hate to think what I would have done if they had messed with my stuff like they are doing others in that area. I'd definitely have taken the bait car thing to a whole new level. And I'd probably have turned into a serial killer before wilcox county could have figured out what was happening.

Would it be considered hunting over bait if we abandoned a vehicle on the side of the road up there? we think a lot alike.... Yes we do.

Any dates from you guys that hunt the area? It happened last Sunday; I am told he was found shot in back of head and shoulder. Rifle laying next to him. Also hearing a shotgun shell casing was found at the scene.

Also hearing a shotgun shell casing was found at the scene. Pretty accurate. They brought a dog in that trailed up to a trailer that about 6 or 8 of the locals live in. For some reason, they had to wait a good while on a Warrant to go inside and Search. I have even heard that they left and came back....not sure about that, though. Either way, once inside, they were not able to locate the gun. But, they did find some similar shells. They took 4 in and held for questioning. But, as far as I know, they have not been able to make an Arrest. And, now that the Locals have all had time to get their Stories together.......they are claiming that it was a white man in there poaching that shot him!

For Troy and the other LEOs on this site. Why was there even a need to obtain a warrant? I thought that a trained K-9 in pursuit of a murder suspect was enough to provide probable cause to be able to enter the premises without a warrant. You know, just like the trained K-9 hitting on drugs in a car gives the LEO probably cause to search the vehicle.
At the very least they should have immediately separated all the occupants of the trailer and taken them into custody for questioning. Can any of you LEO's chime in on this?

The family sure needs justice and closure; I hope they get it. Maybe a $10k reward would loosen some lips.

Can any of you LEO's chime in on this? vehicles have an exigent circumstances exception to the "warrant in hand" rule. They had probable cause and the house wasn't going anywhere. I'd a damn sure separated and detained those folks in there for questioning. if they had been in direct pursuit of a suspect and he ran into the trailer then they could of entered right behind him. Hours later with a dog ain't the same.

You offer a $100,000 reward and half the population in NW Wilcox county will be killed by the other half trying to be the first one's to get to the ABI with the information. They'd shoot each other in the streets in broad daylight if the reward is big enough. You know, come to think of it, that's a pretty good idea. Get everyone leasing in that area and all the big timber companies to band together and put out a huge reward. The neighbor"hood" might just clean itself up.

It would be about like dropping a trailer of guns and a trailer of dope in bham half would go for guns half for dope. Then the ones with the guns would start shooting the ones with dope to get it then start shooting each other. Wait till most of the commotion is over then shoot the rest problem solved.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

That's like the easy cure for black on black homicide; give them more guns and ammo

Solid idea but you'd better provide 10X the ammo you think would be required cause they damn sure have proven repeatedly over time that they cannot shoot. I get so frustrated hearing police reports on the news from Montgomery, B'ham, Mobile, and Atlanta of someone in the hood firing 30-60 rounds and only one person is taken to the hospital and released later with a non-life threatening injury. Generally to the arm or leg.
Has anyone heard, was the local sheriff the one that brought in the dog or was it the state? I heard that after the dog trailed them to the trailer, a cursory interview with the occupants happened then the LEOs left and did not return until they had the warrant which for some reason took 6 hrs to get. By then, they had plenty of time get their stories together and also get rid of anything in the trailer that might have linked them to the crime scene. Im guessing it was the local sheriff because I cannot believe that any other LE agency would have left the scene unattended and would certainly have separated all the occupants and then taken them individually to be questioned. Kinda common sense and standard operating procedure for all LEOs with basic training I would assume.

So a buddy and myself were hunting a piece of property about 1.5 miles from the location of the crime this weekend. I always park about 400 yards off of Willie Powell Rd. so that my truck is out of sight, I have never had an issue. So Saturday evening we are exiting the property and we stopped at the gate to unlock it and exit to the road. I saw headlights coming from my left through the trees. So I cut off my headlights and interior lights. The vehicle continued getting closer and as they got in front of us the animals in the car noticed my truck came to a complete stop in the road and I gave them about two seconds and flashed my headlights and they hauled ass out of there. If you leave your truck in sight of the road they will break into it. I always leave my doors unlocked and nothing of much value in the truck, just in case one of the idiots does walk down the road looking for a freebie.
On a side note in case any of you noticed a white F350 stuck off of Hwy 5 yesterday just north of Hwy. 10, yeah that was me. Decided to turn around thought because we thought we had forgot something at camp, and the fun began. If you were one of the several that stopped and offered help, I appreciate it. Special thanks to beav521 who offered to come down from his tree, go get a tractor and come pull me out, you a good man.

Chad, I did see your truck stuck yesterday going home; had a trailer unhooked? Did not see anybody standing around; bur could not have offered much help getting you out as I was in my wife's car while truck is in shop. Bucks were moving pretty good this weekend.
ABolt, I understand the State brought in the dogs and have pretty much taken over the investigation
