I always park where my truck cannot be seen from the road, I know this will not stop them but it makes me feel better any way.. The inmates pretty much rule this area of the county. Untold number of hunters' vehicle have been broken into along roads in west Wilcox. Maybe the state can solve it but I doubt they are that interested in what goes on in those woods. Sad for the victim, no doubt. It all goes back to drugs and what can be stolen to buy more drugs.

It may be interesting to climb and hunt the animals around the trucks. You can rest assured they know where trucks are parking too.

Lummie Jenkins was a legendary sheriff in the county for many years. From 1939 into the late 60s or early 70s.
" He had become something of a legend among law enforcement officers. When their methods failed, they turned to him for help.
Like the postal inspector who brought him a man from Birmingham, The prisoner was suspected of robbing country stores in the days when these places housed post offices along with their racks of seed, hardware and cheap clothing.
Despite two days of questioning, the postal inspector couldn�t get any information from the suspect, who repeatedly requested a lawyer.
�So he called me,� Jenkins said of the inspector, �and told me he was going to bring a prisoner down he wanted me to question for him.
�So I said, �Bring him on,� � Jenkins chortled.
The suspect was brought to Camden in handcuffs and leg irons. Jenkins thought he looked tough.
�Well, I carried him into the jail. I had them take all that stuff off him. Lil� ol� jail room in the office by the jail. And I sat him down.
�Instead of questioning him, asking anything to him, I got my tablet and pencil out and my watch and I felt his pulse beat. And I�d write something down.
�Then I made him unbutton his shirt and I got down and listened to his heart beat. Got right up close to him. So I�d write something else down. I still hadn�t said anything.
�I measured him, up against the wall, like I was measuring him for a coffin or something. Both ways. Sit him back down.
�I�d look at his eyelids. I�d look in his ear. And still not saying anything to him.
�See, I didn�t have on a uniform, just in my shirt sleeves.
�After I got though with all the monkey motions I thought I could do, I sat back and looked at him. And directly, I said, �Now I know everything you have done in the last three months.�
�He looked at me and said, �I reckon you do. You�re one of those mind readers.�
�I said, �That�s right. Now I want these fellows to come in and you tell them everything about your activities.
�And he did. He said, �Ain�t no need in lying about it, this man already knows I did it.� He confessed three or four places.�
Jenkins laughed again at the memory, the audacity of it all.
�You got to figure out your man,� he concluded. �Look at him, figure out what to do to get him to tell you what you want.
�And � it worked.�

Man if you could set up off the road, with a precision rifle and pop some legs and arms from about 500 yards away as they open your unlocked door. Be like prairie dog hunting. It may be interesting to climb and hunt the animals around the trucks. You can rest assured they know where trucks are parking too.

He wouldn't go get folks that were wanted for some crime..he's just send word for them to come in. Most did.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Praise Jesus those bridges are out. Otherwise WP road would connect to the southern end of our lease. We have a gate where the road Y's jus N of Jerusalem Church and a gate on the N end by Hwy 5.
I noticed this weekend that one of the 4 locks on each gate (not our lock or Flatwood's) had been broken.
Anyone else who hunts in the area please PM me your names and phone numbers and I'll text mine back to you. Be glad to help another AlDeer brother out while I'm up that way.

This homicide event is very disturbing.
Sounds like a part of Wilcox County needs to have a major invasion of law enforcement to perform a full blown sweep of the entire area. A total show of force knocking on every door and tracking down wanted people and serving outstanding warrants while investigating this terrible crime.

I have never caught a poacher that was ticketed and turned loose. Every one they run their social security number on has outstanding warrants and they take them to jail!

Nobody in law enforcement outside of Wilcox County is gonna mess with Wilcox County. That's just the way it is.
I tried to help the folks in Montgomery bust a major arson ring here and they just didn't want any part of it.

not napalm Perch, just cleaning up a LOT. It IS a place unto itself, but has a LOT of really good folks down there. I hunted there for many years with a diverse bunch of good folks. Great folks actually.

I used to drive from Orville to Thomasville for work and there were no areas in between that I would have stopped to change a flat unless you wanted Lorenzo and friends to relieve you of your valuables. Large groups of young, able-bodied black males would just stand by the roads and just hang out all day long.

I had an older black man from there that I have known for a long time tell me just last Friday, "These folks done went crazy on this dope and stuff. They are killing each other over $20 worth of crack." He said he did not even feel safe in his own house at night.

I got my truck and trailer pretty stuck down on one of our gates on Willie Powell the other night. I was able to get out before it got too late. I was a little worried as I was making a pretty good amount of noise and was just past the last trailer on the left about 1.5 miles from 162 on WP.
