Man leasing some hunting land on Willie Powell road was found yesterday dead from a shotgun wound. Law enforcement is not saying if it was an accident or murder. Rumor around town is he ran into some locals (helping him hunt) his place.
All I am saying is to the people that think they don't need a pistol concealed when hunting and think carrying one is nutty might need to rethink it. A minor situation can turn into a major one in a blink of an eye.

Buncha fine, upstanding, hard working, democrat voting citizens, up in that neck of the woods. If every dwelling between WP Road and Kimbrough was bulldozed down, with the occupants still inside, crime in Wilcox county would be reduced by 50%. For the few good citizens that do live there, they would just have to be considered collateral damage.

Things can get ugly real quick.
I don't always hunt the line, but when I do, I make sure I'm close to my neighbor's 8 acre bean field.

The natives prolly figured he had some cash or at least would score a nice hunting rifle that would fetch a few crackrocks with him before they shot him. Was his truck anywhere atound or did it get took?

That is REALLY disturbing! My son and daughter in law were hunting my lease on Gates Road Saturday afternoon and said there was some 'sketchy' activity going on. Gate's Road used to connect to Willie Powell Road before the bridge washed out....

This is the reason why when I go deer hunting I pack in my backpack like I might have to fight my way home. Call it being paranoid and over reacting but I call it comforting.

A text I just got from a guy who knew the deceased well:
'Said he'd been having problems with stands and cameras getting stolen and all. It was his 1st year with the place. From what I understand, he was in a ladder or climber when he was shot.'
Dammit all....

I didn't see anything in your post that indicated that he needed an additional weapon concealed. You can carry as many guns as you want with you hunting, if it makes you feel safe.

That would not be good since I just spent my whole life savings on a house in that area. We leased the Bonner place on that rd for 15 years then I met my wife and hunt a few miles from there. When we had the camp there every year it got robbed we learned quickly not to leave valuables even took the door to the camp once. A couple members in our club killed two deer went to unload the atv to get them and the atv's were gone. Buncha fine, upstanding, hard working, democrat voting citizens, up in that neck of the woods. Reminds me that were 2 hunters murdered in the national forest in Florida 25 or so years ago. They were seperate incidents and the case was never solved. Both killed with a shotgun

Dammit all.... Well if that is the case a pistol would not have helped since I am sure he was armed if he was in his stand. Damn low life thugs.

Prayers for him and his family.
