well. just left the doctor.. looks like my week to hunt is my week to watch the kids with the flu..

same tree same scenario today. had a buck chasing does and came by 5 minutes to late... I really think a good one got by me today.

Hunted Saturday morning and saw 3 small bucks and 4 smaller does. Hunted Sunday after church and saw one nice doe at a distance in some thick stuff that never gave me a decent shot.

Ours schools and many businesses are closed Wednesday due to pending ice/snow storm. Not sure if I can get out of neighborhood but would like to go. Will have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.

Woke up at 5 AM as i usually do and have about 1.5 inches of snow on truck and roads and its still coming down. Expected to snow another 2 to 3 hours. Hear no autos moving. With temperatures dropping and wind picking up, looks like a day at the house for me.
I drive a school bus and with the icy roads and temperatures, our schools may close again tomorrow.

With our schools closed again Thursday, I decided to slip away in the afternoon and hunt for a few hours. Got set up about 2 EST and didn't see or hear much at all until about 4 EST. Saw a single doe passing thru, decent size but couldn't get on her quick enough to get a shot.

Hope to go again tomorrow.

Believe it or not with the terrible score we have posted to date, we are tied for 7th place. We have 5 points and the leaders are only at 29(I think). Thanks to Hoss606 for posting our only kill to date.

Well I can�t lie. They doing it where I hunt and took this week off to hunt. My kids got sick and I hunted three sits. On those sits I had two bucks chasing and both cane by within range but minutes to late. Hunted yesterday morning and my buddy saw bucks chasing all around him and bunged one up. He went and sat my tree that evening and shot a six point chasing a doe and saw another buck while he was dragging it to truck. I still gonna get my points. Maybe not the doe but some points I hope.

Went this A.M. and sat for 5 hours and saw my "Pet" spike who I see every morning I hunt this spot.
Did see 4 of the biggest fattest gobblers I've seen on our land. One had a very long beard but all were shooters. Just the wrong season.
Didn't go back this afternoon. Got some chores to do after church tomorrow so I may be done till next Saturday.

Thought It was a done deal today fellas. 35 yards broadside main frame 8 with some trash. When I tried to stop him he wouldn�t and finally did with his midsection back open in the shooting lane. Oh well. Hopefully he will show up in morning.

Haven't seen much of anything during daylight but been getting pictures right before sunrise. I just keep waiting for one to slip up.
Gonna pick my bow up Friday morning and try to get us a doe.

Getting to that nut cutting time. We haven’t been that good that’s for sure on getting points. I have let a few opportunities slip by that should of been points but they got us none. Not even a bloody arrow. I only have 4 more days to hunt so hopefully can make something happen.

I went this morning after my A.M. school bus ride. Got in my stand about 9:30 EST and texted my buddy who had been there since sunrise. About 5 minutes go by and I hear BOOM. I send him a text and 6 does and a 7 point come out on him and he nails the 7 point. This has been such a dry year for us and he had been out of meat for about 3 months, he said he just had to shoot something. Said the does all seemed like mamas with babies and didn't have the heart to shoot one so he popped the 7 point. On the hoof, about 140 pounds.
I got to hunt 3 hours and saw nothing. This is the 4th time this season I have hunted after my morning bus route and each time, saw nothing. Told my wife this i the last time I do this. I'm getting too old to burn the candle at both ends. When doing this, I get up at 4:45 AM EST and have not down or rest time until I go to bed. If I do not go hunting, I generally get an hour or hour and a half nap somewhere in the mornings.

Went this morning and saw two spikes and nothing else. Was praying like crazy that the last one I saw would be a doe. But it wasn't. This again was the unicorn spike I see nearly every time I hunt but this time I was on the other side of the property . He must smell me or something.
I wonder if he will be around in 4 years!!!

Looks like I get to take the rifle in the morning. Buddy just asked me to go on a doe hunt.

Hmmm. Not good when you garunteed a doe and don’t see anything. That’s my luck. Got bow in hand this afternoon.

Well fellas. I’m sorry for my lack of production this year. Our place did not have the bucks it had in the past for various reasons and ones That should be fixed next year. I am positive they will be. I went on one meat hunt this year and seen a spike and a yearling that couldn’t of been 50 lbs. I was looking for a big slick. I hunted with bow all season and actually drew on three bucks and two were just a tad to late. They could of been the same deer since it was in the same tree two afternoons in a row. The third was on a decent 8 that I saw coming a ways off and was ready. I could not get him to stop in my window to shoot. When he did stop, all I had a shot on was his guys and back hams at 35 yards. I let him walk to hopefully see again. Saw one other great buck that morning and he got to about 65 and peeled off on another trail. It looks like my season is done. I was gonna hunt today but my two year old got the squirts and I had to sit out. He seems to be fine now but looks like I’m not gonna make it out in this rain this afternoon. Don’t want to get wet bow hunting and ain’t seen enough to make me warrant it.

Shot a young 8 point this morning. He is a deer I would pass on normally but freezer is empty and does are not in season up here. He will eat just fine. I'll get it posted in the morning. Blessed to get meat for the freezer.

I have to apologize that i too wasn't much help to our team score this year. First time in 6 years I hadn't shot at least a buck or a doe. Most years I have doubled.
