I found a shotgun in the woods...I suspect it fell off someone's atv. Tried to find the owner but no luck. been trying to clean and "refurb" it to make it usable.

What's your cousins name? I see you're from Clanton. I know a guy that shot a buck once and was going to have his picture taken with his firearm (can't remember if it was a rifle or a shotgun) across the buck's antlers. Deer jumped up and ran off. Never found the firearm or the deer. This is all according to the fellow that it supposedly happened to. I don't know if it's true but I don't see why someone would make that up about themselves.

I've heard this story too. Made me laugh.

Never have myself, but the Federal game warden on the military base I hunt tells a couple of stories about finding some interesting things in past years.

All we can use are muzzleloaders or slug guns. They found a "rifle" wrapped in clear plastic and tied with rope, tied to a tree limb overhead. Another story is they found some type of waterproof enclosure buried with rifles in it. Nowadays (post 9/11) this place is tighter than dick's hatband (thus stuff like this couldn't happen), but in olden days I'm told you could enter and exit freely.

I found a pistol in a creek under a bridge. It had been submerged for some time. I turned it in to the police. I figured someone threw it out of a car window crossing the bridge because it was stolen or used in a crime? I never heard anything of it from the police.

Dang, having a deer run off with your gun would be a good story to tell your grandkids one day.
Years ago my sons and I had finish up a dove hunt at Autauga Community Hunting Area and were the last ones to leave. Laying on the ground near our parked truck was a 1100 shotgun. I left a note along with my number for someone to easily find. I also left a similar note at the check station, as no one was there. I got a call from the owner and we made arrangements to get the gun back to him. The next night I receive a call from a Game Warden and I explain to him the gun is back with the owner. He said that he wishes I had made a better effort to get the gun to them. He said someone had committed a murder with a shotgun in that area several years ago and the gun had never been recovered. I assured him this gun had not been out in the weather for two years.

I found very nice skinning knife a Lowndes Management area.
I've also found binoculars and several turkey calls.

I don't believe I've found any interesting items in the woods; just a couple balloons. But while we were in Texas in November, I dropped a doe in an open field and when I walked up to where she fell, there lay a NIIIIICE shed less than a foot away. I thought that was pretty cool.

Daughter and I were taking a walk on a country lane and she found a cheapo Buck knife open. I think its out in my garage.

I have only found a ground blind set up on tva land. It stayed there for a month close to the entrance. On my way out i had to pass it and saw a woman and man gettin inside it. I couldnt believe no one stole it during a month. I seen 2 chairs out by a road with a truck parked 100yds away. And a broken chair in the woods close to a bare shootin house rofl
