You get a 7 year license in Florida. Not sure about other counties in Alabama, but in Tuscaloosa, you can pay for a 5yr CC permit

Mom should worry about her own chit vs those of others. I'm pretty sure you missed the point. Texas mom Cleary gives no shats about the open carry. Mocking the Op' s picture with her comment. I personally am not a fan of open carry unless I'm in the woods or bush hogging etc. But not I public I feel like the element of surprise is key when a situation arises, like mentioned above walk softly and carry a big stick. I also don't understand the folks that carry a fixed blade skinning knife like it's a pistol. I seen a few of those guys with toting a Rambo sized bowie knives prancing around like they got the new high point strapped on

I’m a 2A guy and I dislike open carry.
It’s usually the Hi-Point in an Uncle Mike’s as mentioned.
I don’t know this guy, dunno his training, makes me nervous.
I believe strongly in concealed carry.

I know an off duty Officer that was in a bank with a friend when two black men came in and robbed the bank. They made everyone lay on the floor. Officer decided to let em go as there were several other folks in the bank and was worried about a shootout inside the bank. The younger robber kept saying he was going to shoot someone and got more agitated. Officer decided the crazy robber WAS going to shoot someone, pulled his concealed handgun and killed BOTH of the robbers.
He never would of gotten that chance if he had been carrying open for the robbers to see.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I personally think that open carry only draws attention to you. Some good but mostly bad. If something were to go down I don`t want anybody to know I have a gun until I have to use it.
