people (especially the media) are giving him too much credit for putting Tua in the game.
In my opinion he was forced to because he had 0 chance with Hurts. The bigger story is why hasnt he played him all year over Hurts?

Why didn't he just put in Tua mid-year? We kept winning. Pull a guy that's 26-2 and put in an 18 year old that's never started, and then lose a game, and then we'll see how many people stick with you, as a coach. It won't be many.

That is the reason he gets the credit, he realized a change needed to be made, but he had the balls to actually do it.

As Shannon Sharpe said, he may be the only coach in the NCAA that would pull someone who was 25-2 and put in a true Freshman. Yes, it needed to be done. No, 99% of coaches wouldn't have done it.

Bingo. I also think after Auburn he was ready to do it in the Clemson game, but didn't need to.

Because he's a true freshman that makes true freshman mistakes. He made 4 that could have been catastrophic had he not have the God given talent and the Bama defense to over come those.

According to Kiffin on Dan Patricks show, some of the offensive coaches were calling for this change several games ago

Yeah, something tells me Saban was the only one keeping this from happening a while back already.
Daboll appeared unleashed when he had a QB that could actually run the whole offense. Hurts kinda seemed like he knew it was coming too.

If the D had not gotten a pic after the TUA threw a pic there would be nothing to discuss. Bama got very fortunate but good teams get breaks!

Saban knew Hurts would not lose him a game but thought TUA turnovers could. Once GA took the lead he had to take a chance and luckily it worked

Tua is a great player and without a doubt he had one of the greatest performances that I can recall but I imagine that there was a reason that he wasn't starting. One of the challenges that GA had was facing a qb that they haven't seen, haven't prepared for and did not have film on to spot tendencies and weaknesses. Once Tua plays several games against sec defenses you may feel a little different about him, kinda like auburn and Jeremy Johnson

Kirby made the comment after the game they had prepared for Tua, either he is one heck of a planner or one heck of a liar. With the results, Im thinking its the latter.

So now Tua was lucky. I swear some of you guys live on a different planet. 0 chance to win that game with Hurts in. 0.

If Tua had been playing...and started the championship game...the Tide probably wouldn't have been down 13 when he made that pass. If ifs and buts...

Yeah there was a reason...bama had crap for qb's in '16 and could win with a defense that scored what, 15 td's? Sure, saban ain't gonna pull a starter that is whatever and 1...until he had to.

Tua was incredibly lucky !!!! Like lottery winner lucky but his talent and moxy are undeniable. You just have to wonder how hard it was for Jalen with the infinite doubters. He definitely is a different QB now with little to zero confidence.

No TUA was not Lucky Bama was. TUA threw a horrible pass got picked and gave Georgia great field position up 2 scores. Next pass Fromm hits our defender in the back of the helment and we get a pic and flip the field. Fortunate break. TUA made some great reads. TUA was the only option once GA got ahead Saban did not think Hurts could win it from behind.

Different style with TUA, more chances for turn overs and more chances for a big play. It will be fun to watch how it shakes out next year!
