Put iron bars on all the doors and windows and set bear traps around the perimeter.

Why? They'll just steal the iron bars and traps to sell for scrap. I'd suggest leaving doors unlocked with nothing inside. They ARE coming in, no need in tearing something up to get there. Take the wheels off or they will. Might want to leave a bottle of Crown Royal on the step as a peace offering for hostile natives.
