Went out to wheeler this morning and finally got on some deer. I shot a mature doe at 35 yds broadside at 8:08 am. When I shot she jumped the string a slightly and turned which caused me to hit her in the shoulder. I could see the arrow halfway through her as she ran straight away from me. Good blood started ~20 yards from the hit site:
I waited for ~3 hrs, went back in, and found good blood for the next 150 yds. 4-5 puddles like this over the next hundred yards or so with good blood in between. She never appeared to lay down:
I found the broad head end of the arrow first at approximately 40-50 yds from the hit site:
Later at ~80 yds from the hit site I found the other 6" of the knock end of the arrow in a small privet bush:
She was painting some trees pretty good at times. The last blood I found was a good golf ball-size "puddle":
We looked for at least another hour from there spiraling out and nothing. It was pretty thick in there so you would think you would see more blood on brush, trees, etc... but we couldn't find anything beyond that.
I am going to meet someone with a dog shortly. I sure would like to recover her.
