Saw a doe with a Fawn, and a spike and 4 pt traveling together. None of that says rut to me but supposedly they have been chasing does all week. Maybe I smell bad?

Watched a good buck chase a doe this AM. Went back this afternoon. Got sat down at 3:39 and killed a nice 8 pnt at 3:50 . Shortest hunt Ive had all year. He came up on the ridge and started making a scrape less than 20 yds from me. Finally broke the slump

Fun afternoon! My son had a chance at his first but it just didn't work out. At least we finally saw deer. First deer of the afternoon was a decent 5pt. He walked up literally 3ft from the GB. My boy says the deer is blurry in the scope and he can't get a shot. Well he was breathing so hard his glasses fogged up. By the time we got ready the deer was 100yrds walking away. Next a doe walks out and I tell him to get ready as she is walking to us. He says dad what about that buck behind her. I had never seen him walk up. As we are trying to reposition he puts his head down and starts chasing her. He was a very good 8pt. As I'm watching them run off I realize this deer would have been one of my best 8pts but I'm trying to let him get one. He is still young and it's just fun watching him get all shook up when he sees a deer. We will try again tomorrow.
