I really not trying to start crap. you know you watch the news and the same song and dance goes on every day where some guy didn't do what the cop ask him to do blah blah blah blah... regardless if the road block is legal or not dosent matter and is out of my control but I can follow the law and make it easy for everyone involved and give him my license and pen.

This mind set folks have about not respecting or complying with law enforcement rediculess. The mindset of giving in to law enforcement requests in situations like this -- when you're driving down the road and have a GW ask for your hunting license and "harvest" record or other evidence of hunting WHEN YOU'RE NOT HUNTING -- is one reason why America is going into the tank. Many of us respect the hell out of game wardens, and anyone who ever has done a ride-along or other situations realizes a slice of what they have to deal with. But to capitulate gleefully when you're not engaged in any kind of hunting situation is a load of crap. If a GW walked up on the downtown sidewalk and demanded to see your hunting license and "harvest" record would you show it? If any other law enforcement just stopped you on the sidewalk, or in a store, or while you're buying groceries or dip or have the kids at the park, and demanded to see your driver's license and/or proof of residence, would you willingly hand over those to him/her? I had rather him check me on the street or road block as long they don't shake me down while I'm hunting like some game wardens do. That is a prick move imo.

Why do have to have a pen to drive down the road?? To sign a ticket...if you don't have a pen you can't sign your ticket so you get a ticket for not being able to sign a ticket.

SO ... you would rather a game warden check your papers on a street or road block when you're NOT engaged in the act of hunting instead of when they are commissioned to do so - when you're actually engaged in the act of hunting (or fishing, or trapping). You're saying you'd rather have your rights trampled on a public road or sidewalk when you're clearly not hunting or doing anything related to hunting, just so you can have a peaceful hunting experience.

I'm not a huge fan of game wardens but I do have respect for law enforcement and understand the crap they deal with every day. If I go through a road block I will do what they ask me to and go on my way. This mind set folks have about not respecting or complying with law enforcement rediculess.
You should always respect law enforcement. However, you should also be aware of your rights and what not to do (like lie) when dealing with LEOs. Number 1 mistake is to lie to an LEO. LEOs will lie to you (like relax we don't know you're going to jail yet) but don't get caught lying to them. There are good LEOs (most) but there are some bad apples (a few very bad apples) who would do anything to make you nervous enough to try and develop a case even if you did nothing wrong. They want that ticket or arrest so they can boost their contact figures. If you're stopped treat them with respect and follow their instructions but don't let them search your vehicle because they ask. You may not have anything illegal in your vehicle that you know of but someone might have used it and left something you didn't know was there. Like your kid's friend left a roach in your ashtray you had no idea was there. Now you have explaining to do if they don't smell it and you let them search. That might not cut it. I would sometimes try to legally get into a vehicle or convince you to let me have a look. Some folks aren't the sharpest tool in the shed and get scared just because LEO stopped them. Don't be that guy or the wise guy. Other folks get hostile and are roadside lawyers. Take the middle ground and be respectful to the difficult job the LEO has but don't feel you are required to give up your rights either. Be respectful but know your rights and don't lie. Do that and you'll be fine.

So what happens to the guy walking down the street, when a GW demands to see his hunting license, and the guy doesn't have one because he isn't a hunter? He gets a ticket for something he doesn't even participate in. What about when the police come to your house and demand to search it for no reason. Do you just comply to get along? I understand your sentiment but that's a very, very dangerous road to go down.
