The wind direction tells me which stands are options. From there I'll go to which have been historically the best and which have been hunted the least. There are other factors such as is it a morning stand (trails going to bedding areas) or afternoon stand (food plot) or sometimes it is just what speaks to me at that moment.

I am with jbc. I cant remember any deer in the past 5 years that we killed that we did not have tons of pics of. Most of the ones killed are killed during the rut and are really close to where they spent the summer. I had a deer I killed last year who was 5 and I had 2 years of pictures of him and to my knowledge he never left about 40 acres. I run 10-12 cams on 1200 acres and get the same deer in the same areas year round.

When at hunting camp I usually just ask every one where they want to go. The most common answer is "I don't know" or "wherever you don't go" or "The Woods" after we do that about 4 times someone finally decides then I base my decision off that

So only 1 person pays attention to the moon?

Me too I almost turned around and checked but figured he would have been on here complaining like he was last time he did fence work and got all scraped up

I think the majority of people hunt when they can, where the freshest sign (best looking food plot) is, and at least most pay close attention to the wind direction. I think everybody that hunts or has hunted for a while has seen deer on every phase of the moon there is. Are some phases possibly better? Maybe....but it doesn�t mean he�s not gonna walk in front of you. I surely don�t think it�s a game changer like a swirling or wrong direction wind, or hot weather.

I would guess people look at a chart that says the hunting will be good (based on the moon) then go out in the woods and kill a deer and think the moon phase had more to do with it than simply being in the woods.

My time from work determines when i hunt of course. And my chores. But i love when its been raining for a long time. I want to be out there sitting rite before the rain stops. Thats the thing i look most for.

that sounded kinda strange to me too. I only run cameras for a month or 2. But even if i didnt, i know that the place I'm hunting has good deer. So i pull my cameras before the season starts. I seen some guys totally consumed with getting pics of the big ones. Yea, its fun to show off game cam pics of the good ones, but its funner to take pics when i have them loaded in the truck.

The only time the moon plays into my plans are if I'm going to hunt in the morning, and if the moon is full the night before, I'll wait until at least 9AM to get in the stand.

If I look at a feeding time chart, which is rarely, and it says it peaks at 1PM or 2PM, I might try to go a little earlier than normal that afternoon.

This is **almost** me...

i need my 4 wheeler to get around. so wind & thermals , then its past info for location.to keep the wind on my nose not my tail.

I hunt 4 different properties varying in size from 100 to 600 acres. Any deer I kill I usually have a bunch of pics of him. Usually one of these places will have a bigger/older buck I go after.
