I've been looking awful hard at these. What do you think? The varmit model with heavy barrel. 7lbs or the American without the standard barrel at 5lbs? I would use it for a mixed use plinker gun. Hopefully be able to pass it down.

I've got a CZ 455 or 452 American ( have to look and verify) that has standard and heavy barrel, Burris scope, extra Tacticool stock and trigger job that I'd part with. I bought it a few years back and never shoot it. Was gonna do a short, threaded barrel for dedicated suppressor use but have changed my mind.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

I have a CZ 452 American, and it is one of my favorite 22s. Wouldnt mind having a 455 heavy barrel. The 452 American is crazy accurate and built well enough to hand down generations.

Check out the Ruger 10/22 LVT. It is similarly as accurate as the 452 American.

If going 455,I would buy the American. I own a few 452's and 453's. Reports on Rimfirecentral are that the 455 may be slightly less accurate than the 452 or 453 but it could also be within the margin of error for individual guns.

I think you would be hard pressed to buy a better rimfire for less than $1200.

The 455 has the benefit of being able to use a Lilja aftermarket barrel which have been reported to shoot very close to a 54 action Anschutz. Lots of money though if you add a Lilja but you could always get one later and it wouldn't be too bad.

Personally,I would shop the classifieds at www.rimfirecentral.com or ask around on the CZ forum there and try to pick up a 452 or better yet 453 American.

I've got the old model (452?) with a heavy barrel, the 527, and my son shoots a .270. Can't say enough good things about CZs. The .22s, particularly, are high quality equipment.
